The NPI Senior Test Engineer is an individual with high motivation to launch products to market. Is determined to build a quality product and innovate through continuous improvement throughout the product’s life cycle. This role is highly synergetic and works with R&D teams, technicians, and peers to develop the manufacturing process for a medical robotic system. Is also capable and passionate about developing, documenting and qualifying test processes used during the manufacturing of electro-mechanical components and subassemblies. This individual is continuously challenging the status quo while understanding the “why” in design intent and overall product functionality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and prepare test plans (DfT) and test cases to validate new products and improve existing products.
  • Define electrical test requirements for the manufacturing of medical robotic systems.
  • Write software for production test systems with an emphasis on programmable automated testing.
  • Develop manual and automated test suites for manufacturing purposes.
  • Develop new test procedures and enhance existing ones to ensure products’ reliability and usability.
  • Design, develop, document, and qualify electro-mechanical testing fixtures using custom and off-the shelf hardware and software.
  • Troubleshoot and failure analysis of electrical test equipment and products through electrical schematics and testing.
  • Collaborate, mentor and support design teams to develop and introduce test processes that scale to commercialization.
  • Lead investigations and resolve test issues following GMP and the company’s Quality Management System.
  • Proven ability to successfully handle multiple projects and manage on-time delivery.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem solving and communications (written and verbal) skills.
  • Exposure to best practices, i.e., Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement is a plus.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineer or related engineering field is required. Mechatronics Engineering degree preferred. Master’s or advanced degree preferred.

Experience and Skills:

Required:

  • At least 4 years of relevant work experience.
  • Familiar with electrical and mechanical components typically used in robotics systems (sensors, motors, motion controllers, PCA and its components, cables, etc.).
  • General familiarity with power semiconductors, dc motors, drives, relays, AC/DC converters, basic control theory and digital implementation of controls.
  • Proficiency with basic EE tools (scopes, logic analyzers, etc.)
  • Experience with electrical test automation, test contact reliability, and other automation control technologies.
  • Practical experience with DFM, DFT.
  • Produce high quality documentation that is clearly understandable by internal and external personnel.

Preferred:

  • Experience in Medical Device industry, Robotics, Manufacturing.
  • Experience in Product Lifecycle Management systems such as Oracle Agile.

Other:

  • Ability to travel (10%) to and from headquarters in Santa Clara, CA.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :

105,000 - 169,050

Additional Description for Pay Transparency:

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis. Employees and/or eligible dependents may be eligible to participate in the following Company sponsored employee benefit programs: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, business accident insurance, and group legal insurance. Employees may be eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)). This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s long-term incentive program.
