Job Description:

DePuy Synthes is recruiting for a(n) Medical Affairs Manager, Switzerland, located in Zug, Switzerland or Amersfoort, Netherlands or Ringaskiddy, Ireland or Leonardo da Vincilaan, Belgium.

The Medical Affairs Manager, Germany plays a critical role in advancing patient care and clinical excellence by providing medical and scientific leadership across the German market. This role serves as a key medical partner to internal cross‑functional teams and external healthcare professionals, ensuring that DePuy Synthes products are supported by strong clinical evidence, compliant medical education, and high‑quality scientific exchange. The position offers the opportunity to directly influence clinical strategy, support innovation in orthopedics, and strengthen trusted partnerships with surgeons and key opinion leaders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide medical and scientific leadership for DePuy Synthes orthopedic products within Germany, ensuring alignment with global and regional Clinical Medical Affairs strategies.

  • Serve as a trusted medical partner to healthcare professionals, including surgeons and key opinion leaders, through compliant scientific exchange and clinical discussions.

  • Support the development, execution, and oversight of clinical evidence generation activities, including investigator‑initiated studies and post‑market clinical follow‑up.

  • Review and contribute medical input to promotional and non‑promotional materials to ensure scientific accuracy, balance, and regulatory compliance.

  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with Commercial, Regulatory, Quality, and R&D teams to support product launches, lifecycle management, and risk management activities.

  • Support medical education programs, advisory boards, and congress activities in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.

  • Monitor and interpret clinical literature, guidelines, and market trends to provide actionable insights that inform medical and business strategy.

  • Ensure adherence to Johnson & Johnson Credo values, Medical Affairs governance, and all applicable compliance standards.

Qualifications

Education

  • Required: Advanced degree in a scientific or medical discipline (e.g., MD, PhD, PharmD, or MSc in life sciences).

  • Preferred: Medical degree or doctoral‑level qualification with a focus on orthopedics, surgery, or related clinical fields.

Experience and Skills

Required:

  • 6-8 years of experience in Medical Affairs, Clinical Affairs, or a related scientific role within the medical device or pharmaceutical industry.

  • Strong knowledge of clinical research methodologies, evidence generation, and post‑market clinical activities.

  • Demonstrated ability to engage in high‑quality scientific exchange with healthcare professionals and key opinion leaders.

  • Solid understanding of regulatory, compliance, and ethical standards governing Medical Affairs activities in Germany and the EU.

  • Proven cross‑functional collaboration skills and the ability to influence without direct authority.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex scientific data into clear insights.

Preferred:

  • Experience in orthopedics, trauma, sports medicine, or related surgical specialties.

  • Prior involvement in investigator‑initiated studies or post‑market clinical follow‑up programs.

  • Experience supporting medical education, advisory boards, or congress activities.

  • Familiarity with global or regional Medical Affairs operating models in a matrix organization.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, evolving environment.

Other:

  • Language: Fluent in German and English (written and spoken).

  • Travel: Up to approximately 30% within Germany, with occasional international travel.

Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopaedics business to establish a standalone orthopaedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may be required, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals.
