Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is recruiting a Summer Intern to join our Translational Absorption, Distribution, Metabolism, and Excretion (ADME) group located in Springhouse, PA. The department is a critical part of the Preclinical Sciences and Translational Safety (PSTS) organization in Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine and is committed to the delivery of high-quality clinical candidates across all Therapeutic Area (TA) discovery teams.
This internship will provide an opportunity for an undergraduate or graduate student to participate in hands-on research in the pharmaceutical industry. Experimental approaches will include preforming in vitro ADME assays focused on peptide metabolism in biorelevant matrices. The successful candidate should be familiar with a variety of basic laboratory techniques in a laboratory environment. Interested candidates should have a strong desire to learn about drug discovery and to contribute to improving the health of patients worldwide.
Responsibilities:
· Designing and executing in vitro assays for peptide metabolism studies using manual and liquid handler automated methods
· Performing LC-MS/MS bioanalysis and troubleshooting
· Performing data analysis and reporting experimental results
· Oral presentations of key scientific findings
· Maintaining an electronic laboratory notebook
Qualifications:
· Previous hands-on laboratory experience is required, preferably with handling proteins in solution
· Basic knowledge in enzymology is desired
· Computer program-based skills are required, which include Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
· Qualified candidates must have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team and have strong interpersonal and analytical skills. Good verbal and written communication skills are required
· Candidates must be self-motivated, reliable, and have excellent problem-solving skills
· Candidates must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or other life science related field throughout the duration of the internship
· Available to work full-time with reliable transportation to the Springhouse, PA site
· Candidates must have authorization to work in the U.S. and must not require sponsorship for employment visa status
Permanently authorized to work in the U.S., must not require sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g., H-1B or green card) at the time of application or in the future. Students currently on CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT usually requires future sponsorship for long term employment and do not meet the requirements for this program unless eligible for an alternative long-term status that does not require company sponsorship.
