At Operations Upstream, we pride ourselves on our specialization in Preculture, Fermentation, Bioreactor Assembly, and Primary Recovery. Our esteemed Process Support department plays a vital role in leading all aspects of the entire production process, culminating in the creation of our groundbreaking medicines.
We are on the lookout for an Operations Manager to join our Process Support team during the day shift. In this crucial position, you will be entrusted with first and second-line troubleshooting, training of new and existing operators, and conducting in-depth data analysis within the Upstream production departments. Key Responsibilities:
- As a People Manager within the Operations Unit, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the personal and professional development of your team while ensuring operational excellence. You are responsible for aligning departmental goals and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and safety.
- Support the personal development of team members by providing appropriate resources and conducting regular one-on-one meetings as well as the five annual conversations for performance and feedback.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive training strategy to equip all team members with the necessary skills for their roles.
- Be responsible for daily operations to achieve production targets while leading workflow, performance, and compliance within team expectations.
- Maintain adherence to standard operating procedures related to ingredient and pharmaceutical product processing to ensure safe and compliant work practices.
- Streamline operational processes through LEAN improvements and implement standard work practices within the team to maximize operational efficiency.
- Ensure a compliant working environment by proactively identifying potential issues and taking vital risks mitigation actions.
- Conduct regular spot checks on standardized work, perform Gemba walks, and observe shopfloor behavior to confirm operational effectiveness.
- Support internal teams in developing process improvement methods and solutions to enhance safety, quality, reliability, cost efficiency, and scheduling.
- Champion a LEAN culture by applying root cause problem solving and managing performance issues effectively.
- Document day-to-day activities and raise any concerns to leadership to ensure successful business outcomes.
- Provide data support to monitor unit performance, identify potential bottlenecks, and facilitate interventions to maintain workflow.
- Advise managers on aligning metrics and operational focus to drive excellence across the organization.
- Promote a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion by holding yourself and your team accountable for implementing strategies that attract, develop, advance, and retain diverse talent within the organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in relevant subjects, e.g. bioprocessing technology or process engineering with at least 5 years of relevant experience and 3 years of leadership experience
- Preferably: familiarity with LEAN methodologies
- Maintain a positive attitude that influences team morale and productivity.
- You can empower and convince people. Demonstrate effective change leadership
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal in English (required) and Dutch (pre).

- High quality awareness and experience/affinity with EHS&S and cGMP standards.
