3 ways AI can help you prepare for your healthcare or corporate job interview at J&J
It’s no secret that AI is transforming healthcare—from enhancing surgical training to helping providers deliver more personalized care. But it’s also reshaping how candidates explore opportunities and prepare for interviews across both healthcare and corporate roles.
At J&J, we encourage employees to use AI in all aspects of work, and we’ve built dedicated employee learning pathways to support it. So we asked our hiring teams and technology colleagues to share how candidates can use AI effectively—and where it matters most to keep it human.
1. Practice like it’s the real interview
AI can act as a mock interviewer, helping rehearse both common and role-specific questions. It’s especially useful for practicing how to answer behavioral questions while offering immediate feedback on clarity, structure, and confidence.
This kind of repetition builds muscle memory to avoid scrambling for answers in the moment. This is especially important if you are selected to submit a pre-recorded interview. Reading your answers directly generated from an AI tool is discouraged because it signals a lack of preparation. Real people—not AI—will be reviewing your interview (whether it’s live or pre-recorded).
Try this prompt:
“Act as a hiring manager for a [job title] role. Ask me five behavioral interview questions and give suggestions on my answers based on my resume [paste in the resume] and job description [paste in the job description of the role you’re applying to].”
“AI is an incredible tool to prepare, but don't rely on it alone. You're still going to be interviewing with real people, so practicing with real people is invaluable, too.”
Talent Acquisition Leader in AI, Data Science, and Digital Health, Johnson & Johnson
2. Refine your personal story and pitch
“Tell me about yourself” is often the first impression you make—and AI can help you shape a strong, concise response. By analyzing your resume and target role, it can help craft a compelling narrative that connects your experience to the role.
AI is also useful for identifying gaps, tightening language and tailoring your pitch to different companies or roles.
Just remember: the goal isn’t perfection—it’s authenticity. Always review what AI produces and bring it back to your own words.
Try this prompt:
“Help me create a 60-second professional introduction for a [job title] role based on this experience: [paste resume] that summarizes my career journey.”
“AI can be a powerful tool in interview prep. It should support your thinking, not replace your voice. Using AI isn’t an issue—letting it speak for you is.”
Global Practice Principal Recruiter, ASPAC, Johnson & Johnson
3. AI is a tool—you're the differentiator
AI can help you prepare smarter, faster and more confidently. But what sets the best candidates apart is authenticity and how their skills and unique experience can help us tackle the world’s toughest health challenges.
