Job Overview
The Director, HCC CA/LATAM Regional Lead is responsible for leading and overseeing the Healthcare Compliance strategy and effective execution of the Compliance Program across the Canada and Latin America (CA/LATAM) region for DePuy Synthes. The CA/LATAM Regional Lead also serves as the Compliance Officer for the local market/cluster, providing end‑to‑end strategic and operational compliance leadership.
This role partners closely with regional and country commercial, medical, and functional leaders to enable ethical business growth while ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies. This is a highly visible leadership role with broad regional impact, offering the opportunity to shape compliance strategy in a complex and diverse regulatory environment while supporting innovation and patient access across Orthopedics.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and execute the CA/LATAM Healthcare Compliance strategy in alignment with DePuy Synthes global compliance objectives.
Serve as a strategic advisor to CA/LATAM senior leaders and local market/cluster stakeholders on compliance risks, mitigation strategies, and business decisions.
Oversee compliance programs related to commercial, medical, and customer engagement activities across CA/LATAM markets.
Partner with Legal, Medical Affairs, Quality, Finance, and other functions to identify, assess, and manage regional / local compliance risks.
Ensure effective monitoring, auditing, and reporting processes to support continuous improvement and risk reduction.
Lead, coach, and develop a team of HCC professionals across the region, fostering a strong culture of integrity, accountability, and speak‑up.
Support business transformation initiatives, new market models, and portfolio changes by embedding compliance into strategic planning and execution.
Qualifications
Education
Required: Bachelor’s degree in law, business, healthcare, life sciences, or a related field.
Preferred: Advanced degree (MBA, Master’s degree, or Juris Doctor).
Experience and Skills
Required:
Minimum 10–12 years of progressive experience in healthcare compliance, legal, regulatory, or risk management roles within life sciences or MedTech.
Demonstrated experience leading compliance programs across multiple countries or regions.
Strong knowledge of healthcare laws, regulations, and industry codes applicable to Canada and Latin America.
Proven ability to influence senior leaders and drive compliant decision‑making in complex, matrixed organizations.
Experience leading, coaching, and developing high‑performing regional teams.
Strong analytical skills, sound judgment, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred:
Experience supporting Orthopedics or MedTech commercial organizations.
Prior regional or global compliance leadership experience.
Experience supporting business transformation, divestitures, or organizational change.
Familiarity with global compliance frameworks and operating models.
Professional compliance or legal certification (e.g., CHC).
Other
Language: Fluency in English required; Spanish and/or Portuguese strongly preferred.
Travel: Intermediate; to 25–30% international travel within CA/LATAM.
Certifications: Compliance or legal certifications preferred.
Driver’s License: Valid driver’s license required, where applicable.
