Johnson & Johnson is recruiting for an Associate Director Health Economics Market Access (HEMA), Surgery ANZ for the Johnson & Johnson MedTech Surgery business. This is an end-to-end role with a focus on MedTech implants and enabling technologies aligned to Surgery; Advanced Wound Closure, Haemostasis, Endo Mechanical, Energy and Robotics.
Reporting to the Director Regional HEMA, Surgery APAC, the Associate Director HEMA role for Surgery partners cross-functionally to build and execute integrated market access strategies, leveraging health economics and value creation for the adoption and payment of Surgery MedTech innovation.
This role will:
Lead and guide the ANZ regional clusters in cross-functional NPI discussions to determine and establish the strategic integrated market access assessment and requirements for optimising prioritised AU and NZ commercialisation. Establish the private sector PHI access strategy for all Surgery NPI technologies applicable for Australia’s Government HTA applications, including Prescribed List (PL) reimbursement, AR-DRG, and MBS code applications, alongside the collation of all necessary documentation to explore and optimise direct engagement with PHI payers, obliging ANZ Surgery financial metrics. Leverage HTA compilations to address AU public sector adoption, and the NZ market, generating value creation analyses. Complete clinical evidence analysis, cost analysis, procedural data analysis with respect to AU HTA applications and market access projects with Regional HEMA (RHEMA) leaders for guidance. Comprehensively address potential 3rd party consulting resources with outlining market insights and leveraging written analysis of clinical data for the health outcomes sections of the PICO in the applications. Prepare and build business case validation to define the ROI aligned to the access strategy. Lead and Guide ANZ cross-functional teams on mandatory evidence requirements to influence global teams that ANZ is a prioritised market access focus, with payment from all payers for Surgeon adoption of MedTech innovation aligned to patient treatment in line with evidence generation plans. Proactively collaborate with the RHEMA Director and respective ANZ cross-functional partners internally to execute the broader ANZ and APAC aligned economic and clinical real-world evidence (RWE) generation (e.g., retrospective EMR studies, time-and-motion studies, quality improvement analyses). Partner with local commercial leaders to engage externally with market hospital administrators, surgeons & surgical societies to identify evidence that will demonstrate ANZ market specific clinical, procedural and economic value of J&J MedTech Surgery products. Guide and partner with local ANZ commercial teams to execute evidence dissemination. Guide the development of ANZ HEMA materials and economic tools for local ANZ HEMA teams to customise with a focus on customer-facing materials to support value proposition, value creation, adoption and payment of J&J MedTech’s Surgery products.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Contribute and co-lead with the RHEMA Director, a focus on ANZ as part of the APAC region evidence strategy for optimising early integrated access (RA+PL) planning as part of R&D stage gate processes, providing optimal and accelerated reimbursement/funding for new product technologies for prioritised markets.
- Leverage ANZ regional access assessment requirements to support accelerated APAC commercialisation, NPI value proposition aligned to global TPP, to address external customer stakeholder needs.
- Lead the ANZ cluster cross-functional team, in partnership with the RHEMA Director & global HEMA (GHEMA) to deliver evidence generation, study execution, including site selection, data collection, analysis and publication.
- Partner with GHEMA, ANZ Marketing and/or vendors to establish or customise customer-facing materials (e.g., value summaries, cost-of-care analysis, hospital case studies) for all external stakeholders; namely HTA agencies, Value Assessment bodies, hospital executive level and all payers.
- Inform to educate RHEMA Director on ANZ health related policy and access trends to support future NPI, evidentiary strategies aligned to regional MedTech adoption, payment, value creation and commercial success.
What you will bring
Required
- Advanced degree (MS, MPH, PhD, MHA, MBA) in a healthcare-related field.
- Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in the healthcare industry, MedTech preferred.
- Demonstrated acumen in APAC HTA access, MedTech industry, with deep surgical procedural knowledge.
- Developed, mentored small teams with successful talent management to hone HEMA aligned specialised skillsets.
- Demonstrated ability and experience working successfully in matrix environments.
- Proven ability to understand business strategy with a broad-based commercial financial acumen.
- Robust understanding of the APAC region access policy environment, external marketplace and access requirements that drive MedTech adoption.
- Proven ability to identify MedTech differentiation, evidence gaps, design and execute real world evidence generation and lead dissemination.
- Growing leadership and demonstrated ability to effectively motivate local and ANZ regional cross-functional leaders.
- Track record of working effectively to shape the ANZ market and influence key decision makers.
Preferred
- Literacy and fluency with OR surgical procedures’ funding pathways and reimbursement mechanisms in the ANZ region.
- Extensive complex project and vendor management experience.
- Analytical and health economic technical rigor with high attention to detail aligned to ANZ HTA strategy, protocol-based evidence generation and ANZ HCC/Legal operations.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, internal and external.
