Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopaedics business to establish a standalone orthopaedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may be required, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals. Job Overview
The Global Head, Talent Acquisition Depuy Synthes, Orthopedics provides enterprise‑level leadership for talent acquisition strategy at DePuy Synthes. This role is responsible for shaping and executing a scalable, inclusive, and data‑driven hiring approach that supports business growth, transformation, and long‑term workforce needs. The position has a significant impact on organizational capability, leadership pipelines, and employer brand, and serves as a key strategic partner to senior leaders across the business.
Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Talent Strategy & Advisory
Define and execute a comprehensive, scalable global talent acquisition strategy that aligns with organizational priorities and growth objectives.
Develop, maintain, and govern a comprehensive Talent Acquisition framework and policies to ensure consistent, compliant, and scalable recruiting practices across the organization
Lead the design, piloting, and scaled rollout of next‑generation TA programs and technologies to drive business impact
Collaborate closely with COEs, HRBPs, and senior business leaders to ensure talent acquisition strategies are integrated into broader workforce planning and business initiatives.
Act as a trusted advisor to executive stakeholders, providing market intelligence, insights on talent trends, and competitive analysis to inform strategic decision-making.
Global Leadership, Team Development & Inclusion
Drive adoption across a complex matrix by influencing without formal authority and leading cross‑functional partners.
Be accountable for TA talent development by defining recruiter competencies, career paths, coaching and training programs, and performance metrics to build a consistent, compliant, and scalable recruiting capability.
Build a high‑performance, inclusive culture of accountability, innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Cultivate senior industry networks and talent pipelines and mission‑critical talent communities.
Champion inclusive hiring practices and foster a workplace culture where employees feel a sense of belonging and are empowered to thrive.
Hiring Quality, Assessment & Candidate Experience
Design and implement differentiated recruiting strategies across levels (wage through executive), functions, geographies, and business segments.
Develop and execute selection assessment strategies that elevate hiring quality and long‑term talent outcomes.
Ensure a world‑class candidate experience that reflects organizational values, culture, and commitment to excellence.
Operational Excellence
Oversee the design and implementation of scalable, efficient, and consistent recruitment processes across all geographies and functions.
Ensure data integrity, governance, and compliance across TA systems and processes, including adherence to local and global employment regulations.
Select, manage, and optimize external talent solutions—including RPO and executive search partners—based on business need and performance.
Technology, Analytics & Innovation
Build Talent Acquisition analytics and insight capabilities, delivering executive‑level dashboards and data‑driven decision support.
Leverage advanced recruitment technologies and sourcing platforms to continuously optimize outcomes and demonstrate impact. Champion adoption of innovative TA technologies and processes to improve scalability, speed, quality, and experience.
Global Perspective
A global mindset with sensitivity to cultural nuances and regional talent dynamics.
Demonstrated ability to navigate the complexities of global employment laws and regulations while driving operational efficiency.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field (required)
Master’s degree or MBA (preferred)
Experience and Skills:
Required:
Typically 12-14 years of progressive experience in talent acquisition, human resources, or workforce strategy roles, including senior leadership experience
Proven experience leading large‑scale or global talent acquisition functions
Strong strategic mindset with the ability to translate business needs into talent solutions
Experience partnering with executive‑level leaders in complex, matrixed organizations
Deep understanding of recruitment operations, selection assessment, workforce planning, and talent analytics
Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder‑management skills
Preferred:
Experience supporting hiring in regulated or highly competitive talent markets
Exposure to global or regional recruiting operating models
Experience leading transformation, process redesign, or technology enablement initiatives
Familiarity with employer branding, diversity recruiting strategies, and talent market insights
Experience in healthcare, medical device, or life sciences organizations
Other:
Language: English proficiency required
Travel: Up to 20–30% domestic and international travel
