Job Overview

The Director, DPS Global Planning – Spine & Sports will lead the Global Planning function for the Spine, Sports, and Cranio‑Maxillofacial (CMF) Platforms within DePuy Synthes, representing approximately $2.2B in annual sales. This role is accountable for end‑to‑end supply planning execution, ensuring a strong Customer‑First focus while balancing service, cost, and inventory cash‑flow objectives.

Reporting to the Vice President of Global Supply Chain Planning, this leader partners closely with the Spine/Sports/CMF Supply Chain Leader and cross‑functional stakeholders to deliver the E2E Platform strategy, enable New Product Introductions, and ensure day‑to‑day supply chain performance. A key focus of the role is building a leading‑edge planning capability, evolving from functional planning to value‑stream‑based, analytics‑enabled, and increasingly autonomous planning models, while maturing core planning and ERP systems

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, execution, and continuous improvement of global demand, supply, and inventory planning processes for Spine, Sports, and CMF platforms.

  • Own end‑to‑end supply planning execution to ensure product availability at the right place, in the right quantity, and at the right time to meet customer and commercial commitments.

  • Validate net requirements from markets, identify short‑ and mid‑term constraints, and ensure accurate set‑level demand and supply plans aligned to platform needs.

  • Own and lead the Global IBP / S&OP process for Spine, Sports, and CMF, ensuring strong governance, data‑driven decision making, and executive‑level readiness.

  • Partner closely with Commercial, Finance, Manufacturing, Regional Supply Chain, and strategic manufacturing partners to align forecasts, capacity plans, and execution commitments.

  • Lead and develop a global planning organization of approximately 18 associates, ensuring the right capabilities, engagement, productivity, and succession to meet current and future business needs.

  • Establish, monitor, and act on key planning performance metrics, including service, inventory, forecast accuracy, manufacturing plan attainment, excess and obsolete inventory, NPI launch performance, and team productivity.

  • Drive the development and deployment of advanced analytics capabilities to optimize end‑to‑end service, inventory, and cost performance across the platforms.

  • Represent Global Planning on the Spine/Sports/CMF end‑to‑end Supply Chain Leadership Team, providing transparent insights, risks, and mitigation strategies to senior leadership.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required; preference for Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, or related discipline.

  • Master’s degree or MBA preferred.

Required:

  • Typically 10-12 of progressive experience in supply chain, planning, or operations within a global, matrixed organization.

  • Proven leadership experience managing global teams and influencing senior stakeholders.

  • Strong expertise in demand planning, supply planning, inventory management, and S&OP / IBP processes.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex, cross‑functional initiatives in a fast‑paced environment.

  • Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience within medical devices, orthopedics, or other highly regulated industries.

  • Familiarity with advanced planning systems and digital supply chain tools.

  • Experience leading global transformation or continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Strong financial acumen and experience partnering closely with Finance.

  • Clear, confident communication skills with the ability to present to executive audiences.
