Job Description:

DS Manager, Global Payroll Product

Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopaedics business to establish a standalone orthopaedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may be required, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals. Should you accept this position, it is anticipated that, following conclusion of the transaction, you would be an employee of DePuy Synthes and your employment would be governed by DePuy Synthes employment processes, programs, policies, and benefit plans. Role Profile

The DS Manager, Global Payroll Product leads global payroll product strategy, process standardization, technology enablement, data migration, integrations, and operational readiness for Payroll and Time & Attendance. The role serves as a business product owner for payroll-enabling platforms and partners across Payroll, HR, Compliance, IT, Contact Center, vendors, and regional teams to deliver compliant, scalable, and employee-centered payroll solutions. This leader will guide transformation from country-based processes to global standards while ensuring business continuity during separation, implementation, go-live, and steady state.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll Product Strategy & Ownership

  • Define and execute the global payroll product roadmap, including ServiceNow, Genesys, Veeva, payroll platforms, integrations, and other GS solutions.

  • Serve as Business Product Owner across design, build, testing, deployment, enhancement prioritization, and global design approvals.

  • Ensure product decisions align with global standards, statutory requirements, controls, and the future-state payroll operating model.

Transformation Delivery & Change Leadership

  • Lead global payroll separation and transformation initiatives from concept through implementation, go-live, hypercare, and steady state.

  • Develop transition plans covering process design, parallel payroll, data validation, testing, readiness, training, communications, and adoption.

  • Drive continuous improvement, automation, standardization, and operational efficiency across global and regional payroll teams.

Data, Integration & Technology Enablement

  • Define data migration, integration, reconciliation, archival, and lifecycle management practices for Payroll and Time & Attendance products.

  • Partner with data, product, automation, HR, vendor, and technical teams to ensure accurate, secure, and compliant data movement.

  • Design and manage payroll integrations, controls, error handling, testing scenarios, and payroll-to-GL posting strategies aligned with ERP ecosystems.

Governance, Compliance & Operational Excellence

  • Ensure payroll processes meet statutory, SOX, audit, user access, privacy, data protection, and operational control requirements.

  • Govern knowledge, case management, SOPs, work instructions, and change intake processes to support global consistency and quality.

  • Identify risks, dependencies, and process gaps; lead mitigation plans that protect compliance, service quality, cycle time, and cost efficiency.

Stakeholder, Program & Team Leadership

  • Lead global, regional, country, vendor, and functional stakeholders through complex payroll process and technology decisions.

  • Facilitate governance forums, requirements workshops, issue resolution, escalation management, and cross-functional alignment.

  • Provide direction to SMEs, regional leads, and direct reports; support capability building, performance, and professional growth.

  • Data and integration expertise – Translates business requirements into technical specifications and validates integration outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, IT, Finance, HR, or equivalent experience required.

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in Payroll, Time & Attendance, payroll operations, process design, case management, or related transformation roles required.

  • Experience leading or supporting global payroll implementations, divestitures, acquisitions, carve-outs, or large-scale transformation programs preferred.

  • Hands-on experience with payroll and workforce platforms such as SAP ECC, SuccessFactors, ADP GlobalView, Workday, Kronos, Workforce Manager, ServiceNow, or Salesforce required/preferred based on scope.

  • Experience with data migration, integrations, testing, reconciliation, access controls, audit readiness, and compliance governance preferred.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex business and technical concepts into clear messages for senior leaders and distributed teams.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead workshops, manage priorities, resolve issues, and deliver in a fast-paced, global environment.

  • Six Sigma, LEAN, Process Excellence training or certification preferred.

  • Ability to work across NA, EMEA, LATAM, and ASPAC time zones; up to 25% domestic and/or international travel may be required.
