We are seeking a motivated, early-career Co-Op student to join our Oncology Global Medical Affairs (GMAF) team, supporting the operationalization and adoption of artificial intelligence, digital tools, and process innovation across the function. This is a hands-on developmental opportunity for a curious, digitally fluent student who is eager to learn how AI and digital ways of working can accelerate medical excellence in oncology.

In this role, you will work in a fully remote, collaborative environment alongside cross-functional stakeholders to help teams work faster, more effectively, and in a compliant, insight-driven way. You will contribute across three connected areas — AI solutions and automation, medical knowledge and insights, and digital engagement and content intelligence — gaining broad exposure to how a global pharmaceutical medical affairs organization operates.

Key Responsibilities

Under the guidance of team leads, you will support a range of AI, digital, and operational initiatives, including:

AI Solutions & Automation

  • Support the practical application of AI and productivity tools — with a core focus on Microsoft Copilot — to improve everyday workflows and operational efficiency.
  • Help design, build, and test lightweight AI agents and applications, including Microsoft Copilot Studio, turning manual tasks and repeated requests into reusable, low-code solutions.
  • Help build and maintain prompt libraries, use-case repositories, and best-practice documentation that enable teams to adopt AI with confidence.
  • Assist with testing, documenting, and refining AI-supported workflows, and help identify opportunities to automate or streamline manual tasks, process and operations.

Medical Knowledge & Insights

  • Organize, summarize, and structure scientific and medical information to make it easier to find, share, and act on.
  • Support knowledge-management activities, including AI-assisted search, content summarization, and preparation of insight summaries.
  • Help ensure information is accurate, well organized, and consistently presented across the team.

Digital Engagement & Content Intelligence

  • Support digital engagement, analytics, and content-intelligence activities across omnichannel approaches, including content tagging, reporting, and KPI tracking.
  • Help define, track, and report KPIs, translating digital data into clear insights that stakeholders can use to make decisions.
  • Contribute to content coordination and continuous improvement of digital engagement approaches.

Enablement, Rollout & Change Management

  • Support the rollout and scaling of AI tools and digital ways of working, helping plan and coordinate adoption activities.
  • Assist with change-management and upskilling initiatives — preparing training materials, guides, and communications that help teams embrace new tools.
  • Provide project-management support across initiatives, tracking timelines, action items, and deliverables.

Ways of Working

  • Collaborate across functions and geographies in a remote environment, maintaining clear ownership of assigned deliverables.
  • Participate in regular check-ins, agile project support, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Apply AI responsibly, following J&J governance, compliance, and appropriate-use guidelines in all activities.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Be enrolled in an accredited college/institution pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's degree or PhD any discipline. Interest in healthcare, life sciences, technology, analytics, or communications is an asset.
  • Fantastic oral and written communication skills, with confidence working in a remote, collaborative setting

Candidate Eligibility Requirements

Candidates must:

  • Be authorized to work in the Canada without current or future sponsorship requirements.
  • Remain actively enrolled in their academic program throughout the entire internship period.
  • Be available to work 37.5 hours per week during the internship.
  • Should have a minimum GPA of 2.8.

Preferred:

  • Entrepreneurial mindset: able to learn fast, think quickly, and stay nimble in a rapidly evolving environment.
  • Proactive, solution-seeking approach, with comfort working in ambiguous spaces and initiative to move ideas forward.
  • Strong organizational and project-management skills, with ability to manage multiple tasks, timelines, and follow-ups with guidance from team leads.
  • High comfort learning and using new digital tools, collaboration platforms, and AI technologies.
  • Curiosity and confidence about using artificial intelligence and a self-directed approach to learning and problem solving.
  • Ability to work independently and reliably in a fully remote environment while escalating appropriately when needed.
  • Hands-on experience building AI agents, skills, or applications — ideally in Microsoft Copilot Studio or comparable low-code / application-build platforms.
  • Exposure to change management, rollout or adoption initiatives, KPI tracking, or omnichannel and digital engagement approaches.
  • Prior internship, academic project, hackathon, or student-leadership experience with digital or AI tools preferred but not required.
  • Exposure to healthcare, life sciences, research, analytics, marketing, or information management through coursework or internships.

Required Competencies

  • Collaboration
  • Innovation
  • Entrepreneurial Mindset
  • Analytical Thinking
  • Learning Agility
  • Adaptability
  • Proactivity
  • Comfort with Ambiguity

Additional Information

  • This is a fully remote, fixed-term Co-Op placement intended for early-career development and skill building.
  • Structured onboarding is provided, including J&J systems, AI governance and responsible-use practices, medical affairs ways of working, and role-specific training.
  • The role offers broad exposure to AI, medical affairs, and digital delivery within a global oncology organization.
