Position Summary

The Data Domain Lead is a strategic and operational leader responsible for the end-to-end management, governance, quality, standards, and execution of Master Data across multiple global value streams. This role serves as the accountable leader for a designated data domain (e.g., Customer, Product, Supplier, Finance, Asset, or Commercial Data) and ensures alignment of data processes, governance frameworks, and technology capabilities across Johnson & Johnson's global business landscape.

The position leads cross-functional teams and collaborates with Business Process Owners, Value Stream Leaders, Data Stewards, Technology teams, SAP MDG teams, and global business stakeholders to establish and sustain trusted, governed, and fit-for-purpose master data that enables operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and digital transformation initiatives.

The Data Domain Lead is responsible for driving enterprise data standards, maintaining the data dictionary and business glossary, governing data quality, overseeing SAP MDG capabilities, and ensuring seamless execution of master data processes throughout the entire data lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Domain Leadership & Strategy

  • Manage and execute the global strategy and operating model for the assigned data domain.
  • Lead end-to-end master data management activities across multiple global value streams and regions.
  • Execute the vision, roadmap, governance structures, and execution plans for domain data management.
  • Partner with business and technology leadership to ensure data supports enterprise priorities and transformation initiatives.
  • Drive alignment of domain processes across business units, markets, and geographies.

End-to-End Data Management

  • Accountable for data creation, maintenance, enrichment, governance, quality, retirement, and ongoing stewardship activities.
  • Ensure standardized processes exist across the full master data lifecycle.
  • Lead execution of data readiness, migration, cleansing, harmonization, and governance initiatives for major enterprise programs.
  • Oversee data issue management, root cause analysis, and remediation activities.
  • Manage dependencies and integrations across multiple data domains.

SAP MDG Leadership

  • Serve as business lead and subject matter leader for SAP Master Data Governance (MDG) capabilities within the domain.
  • Manage governance requirements, approval workflows, controls, validations, and business rules.
  • Partner with ERP, SAP, Digital Technology (JJT), and Solution Design teams to optimize MDG processes and functionality.
  • Drive adoption of MDG standards and best practices globally.
  • Govern change requests, enhancements, and continuous improvement opportunities related to MDG solutions.

Data Standards, Policies & Governance

  • Define, maintain, and evolve enterprise data standards, business rules, and governance frameworks.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies, regulatory requirements, and global business standards.
  • Chair governance forums and drive decision-making related to data strategy and stewardship.
  • Establish clear ownership, accountability, and stewardship models across the domain.
  • Drive standardization and simplification initiatives across value streams.

Data Dictionary & Metadata Management

  • Own the development and maintenance of the enterprise Data Dictionary, Business Glossary, and Metadata Repository for the domain.
  • Ensure critical data elements have defined business definitions, ownership, lineage, and quality requirements.
  • Drive adoption of standardized terminology, definitions, and master data principles globally.
  • Establish governance for data attributes, hierarchies, relationships, and reference data.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to continually enhance metadata maturity and transparency.

Data Quality & Controls

  • Define and manage domain data quality strategy, KPIs, and performance targets.
  • Monitor and improve quality metrics including completeness, consistency, accuracy, validity, timeliness, and integrity.
  • Lead proactive quality improvement programs across global operations.
  • Establish preventive and detective controls to mitigate data risks.
  • Report quality performance and remediation progress to leadership teams.

Global Stakeholder Leadership

  • Lead cross-functional teams comprised of Data Stewards, Process Owners, Functional SMEs, Technology partners, and external providers.
  • Influence senior leaders across business functions and geographies.
  • Facilitate governance councils, decision forums, and executive updates.
  • Build strong partnerships across Supply Chain, Commercial, Finance, Procurement, Manufacturing, Regulatory, and Technology organizations.
  • Act as escalation point for critical master data and governance issues.

Program & Value Stream Enablement

  • Support enterprise transformation programs, acquisitions, divestitures, ERP deployments, and process harmonization initiatives.
  • Ensure data readiness and adoption across multiple value streams simultaneously.
  • Drive organizational change management and stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational effectiveness and reduce data-related risks.

People Leadership

  • Lead and develop a global team of Data Stewards, Analysts, and Data Governance professionals.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and career development support.
  • Establish clear objectives and performance expectations.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage resource planning, prioritization, and capability development across the domain.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Master's degree in Business, Information Management, Data Management, Engineering, Supply Chain, Information Systems, or related field preferred.

Experience

  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in Master Data Management, Data Governance, Data Quality, or Business Process Management.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing global cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated experience leading enterprise-scale data programs and transformations.
  • Strong understanding of data governance operating models and stewardship frameworks.
  • Experience supporting multiple global value streams and business functions.

Technical Expertise

  • SAP MDG expertise required.
  • Strong knowledge of SAP ERP environments.
  • Experience with data governance, data catalogue, metadata management, and quality tools.
  • Understanding of data models, hierarchies, reference data, and business rules management.
  • Knowledge of enterprise data architecture and integration concepts.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :

$134,000.00 - $184,000.00

Additional Description for Pay Transparency:
