Meet four employees from J&J MedTech China and learn how they have grown into new jobs, launched new products and challenged themselves to develop new skills.

Qing’s story – transitioning into a new focus area

Qing Y., territory manager for surgery, experienced that support firsthand after a promotion from a core market in Xi’an to a larger territory in Xinjiang. Qing needed to quickly adapt to a new market, new customers and a full-product portfolio that was quite different from the suture-focused portfolio he had previously worked on.

“This experience showed me how trust and support from leadership can build confidence and motivation, helping me stay committed to my ideas and grow stronger when facing complex challenges,” Qing said.

When a complex procurement opportunity emerged early on in his new role, his manager provided coaching and identified areas for improvement while still allowing Qing to step into a leadership role. Qing kept stakeholders informed throughout the process, remained focused on improving clinical value and was able to keep the project moving forward on time.

Navigating complex projects: Qing’s story

Driving innovative changes for patients around the world often requires rapid cross-team and cross-function coordination. Qing Y., associate strategic development director, has to balance fast-moving external projects with extensive internal coordination, ensuring communications are delivered accurately and efficiently. She turns often to Our Credo to focus her priorities, reminding her to keep patients, doctors, nurses, employees and everyone who uses our products at the center of each decision.

“The support of my leaders has made a significant difference in my career,” Qing said. “Their professional judgment, trust and timely guidance allow me to stay focused on doing what's right and investing my energy where it can create the greatest impact.”

Bo’s story: Resiliency through teamwork

For Bo Y., district sales manager for DePuy Synthes, support means teams that work closely together to deliver exceptional results. Bo saw this clearly during the launch of a new shoulder replacement product. Across Shanghai and Zhejiang, sales, market access, professional education and supply chain colleagues collaborated to solve access challenges, build clinical awareness and support a successful regional launch.

“With multiple teams working in parallel, each contributing their expertise and supporting a shared goal, the launch was successfully executed across the region,” Bo said. “That experience truly demonstrated the power of teamwork at J&J.”

Yingyu’s story: Continuous learning helps employees create their unique career path

For Yingyu Q., marketing manager for electrophysiology, continuous learning has been the driving force across five roles in 10 years at J&J. From technical work to sales and then marketing, each move helped her better understand clinical needs, support product strategy and expand her capabilities. Our clear career development paths, learning resources, training programs and coaching helped her thrive in each new role.

“With every career move, they gave me opportunities to learn, grow, and even make mistakes along the way,” Yingyu said. “Through regular coaching and open conversations, they helped guide me through each transition until I was ready to succeed in my new role.”
