Job Description:

Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopaedics business to establish a standalone orthopaedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may be required, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals. Should you accept this position, it is anticipated that, following conclusion of the transaction, you would be an employee of DePuy Synthes and your employment would be governed by DePuy Synthes employment processes, programs, policies, and benefit plans. In that case, details of any planned changes would be provided to you by DePuy Synthes at an appropriate time and subject to any necessary consultation processes.

The Senior Director, DePuy Synthes Commercial & Marketing Communications is a senior leader within the DePuy Synthes Global Corporate Affairs organization, serving as a member of the Global Corporate Affairs Leadership Team.

This role provides dedicated communications leadership for DePuy Synthes’ global commercial platforms, including joints, trauma, spine, sports medicine, and enabling technologies. The Senior Director is a close partner to global platform leaders, accountable for aligning communications strategy to commercial priorities, advancing new product introductions (NPI), and leading customer engagement objectives.

With emphasis on approved product communications, launch excellence, and customer engagement, the role ensures product innovation, clinical evidence, and platform strategy are translated into clear, compelling, and compliant communications that support adoption and growth.

The Impact You’ll Have

  • Accelerate growth across DePuy Synthes’ core platforms by strengthening how products and innovation are communicated to surgeons and customers

  • Elevate NPI execution through disciplined, differentiated product launch communications

  • Enhance customer engagement at major congresses and medical meetings through cohesive, high-quality communications experiences

  • Help build and mature DePuy Synthes’ standalone commercial communications capabilities during a period of business transformation

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead global commercial and marketing communications strategy in support of DePuy Synthes’ priority platforms, including joints, trauma, spine, sports medicine, and enabling technologies

  • Oversee integrated commercial communications across owned, earned, and shared channels, including digital, social, events, and marketing enablement tools

  • Partner closely with Marketing and global platform leaders to shape product positioning, messaging, and launch strategy

  • Own communications strategy and execution for new product introductions (NPI) including approved messaging and integrated activation plans

  • Lead communications planning for major congresses, medical meetings, and customer engagement moments, ensuring strong alignment across product, platform, and brand storytelling

  • Ensure communications are accurate, compliant, and aligned with regulatory, legal, and medical requirements

  • Collaborate with brand, corporate, media, and internal communications partners to ensure cohesion across the broader communications ecosystem

  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing commercial communications team with strong product and customer engagement expertise

  • Establish clear performance metrics to assess effectiveness of launches, congress engagement, and commercial communications impact

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred

  • 12+ years of experience in communications, marketing, or related disciplines, with significant experience supporting commercial organizations

  • Deep experience in media and public relations, public affairs, digital communications, internal communications, and issues management

  • Demonstrated success partnering with senior business leaders in P&L-driven environments

  • Deep expertise in product, platform, or pipeline communications, including NPI and lifecycle product support

  • Strong understanding of congress strategy, medical meetings, and healthcare customer engagement models

  • Experience operating in regulated industries such as medical technology or life sciences

  • Proven ability to lead teams and influence at the executive level in matrixed organizations

  • Strategic, adaptable leader with strong executional rigor

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :

$178,000.00 - $307,050.00

Additional Description for Pay Transparency:

Subject to the terms of their respective policies and date of hire, employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:
Vacation –120 hours
Sick time - 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Colorado –48 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington –56 hours per calendar year
Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays –13 days per calendar year
Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
Parental Leave – 480 hours within one year of the birth/adoption/foster care of a child
Bereavement Leave – 240 hours for an immediate family member: 40 hours for an extended family member per calendar year
Caregiver Leave – 80 hours in a 52-week rolling period10 days
Volunteer Leave – 32 hours per calendar year
Military Spouse Time-Off – 80 hours per calendar year
