Johnson & Johnson is recruiting for a Director, Regional Health Economics Market Access (RHEMA) Surgery, APAC for the Johnson & Johnson MedTech Surgery business. This is an end-to-end role with a focus on MedTech implants and enabling technologies aligned to Surgery; Advanced Wound Closure, Haemostasis, Endo Mechanical, Energy and Robotics.

Reporting to the Senior Director Global & Regional HEMA, Surgery USA, the Director RHEMA role for Surgery partners cross-functionally to build and execute integrated market access strategies, leveraging health economics and value creation for the adoption and payment of Surgery MedTech innovation.

This role will:

Lead and guide Global and Regional cross-functional NPI teams on critical and strategic integrated market access assessment and requirements for optimising prioritised APAC commercialisation. Oversee local teams HTA strategy and execution to generate coded coverage reimbursement aligned to all high priority Surgery technology and associated procedures, obliging financial metrics. Lead and Guide Global and Regional cross-functional teams on mandatory evidence requirements to oblige APAC prioritised market access with payment from all payers for Surgeon adoption of MedTech innovation aligned to patient treatment. Proactively collaborate with Global HEMA (GHEMA) and respective cross-functional partners internally to execute APAC aligned economic and clinical real-world evidence (RWE) generation (e.g., retrospective EMR studies, time-and-motion studies, quality improvement analyses). Partner with local and APAC cluster HEMA leaders to engage externally with market hospital administrators, surgeons & surgical societies to identify evidence that will demonstrate APAC market specific clinical, procedural and economic value of J&J MedTech Surgery products. Proactively partner with GHEMA, Global Marketing, Regional Marketing and respective cross-functional teams, namely Clinical Research, R&D, local Medical Affairs to optimise NPI Target Product Profiles (TPP). Lead, guide and partner with local and cluster HEMA leaders to execute evidence dissemination. Lead and guide the development of APAC HEMA materials and economic tools for local HEMA teams to customise with a focus on customer-facing materials to support value proposition, value creation, adoption and payment of J&J MedTech’s Surgery products. Lead, develop and inspire a sizable team of local market and cluster senior HEMA personnel, building strategically capable local market leadership, striving for expert level acumen across HTA, real world evidence and strategic pricing. Foster a high performance, collaborative team culture ensuring alignment with the APAC region cross-functional and commercial teams across all of Surgery’s platforms.

Key Responsibilities Include

Lead the APAC region evidence strategy for optimising early integrated access planning as part of R&D stage gate processes, providing optimal and accelerated reimbursement/funding for new product technologies for prioritised markets.

Leverage regional access assessment requirements to support accelerated APAC commercialisation, NPI value proposition aligned to global TPP, to address external customer stakeholder needs.

Lead a regional cross-functional team, in partnership with GHEMA to deliver evidence generation, study execution, including site selection, data collection, analysis and publication.

Partner with GHEMA, Regional Marketing and/or vendors to establish or customise customer-facing materials (e.g., value summaries, cost-of-care analysis, hospital case studies) for all external stakeholders; namely HTA agencies, Value Assessment bodies, hospital executive level and all payers.

Inform to educate GHEMA on APAC health related policy and access trends to support future NPI, evidentiary strategies aligned to regional MedTech adoption, payment, value creation and commercial success.

Manage a high performing strategic capability team across multiple regional jurisdictions, ensuring professional growth, enabling deep community connection and robust partnership with APAC’s Surgery commercial leadership.

What you will bring

Required

Advanced degree (MS, MPH, PhD, MHA, MBA) in a healthcare-related field.

Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in the healthcare industry, MedTech preferred.

Demonstrated acumen in APAC HTA access, MedTech industry, with deep surgical procedural knowledge.

Proven people and successful talent management of medium to large teams honing specialised skillsets.

Demonstrated ability and experience working successfully in matrix environments.

Proven ability to understand business strategy with a broad-based commercial financial acumen.

Deep understanding of the APAC region access policy environment, external marketplace and access requirements that drive MedTech adoption.

Proven ability to identify MedTech differentiation, evidence gaps, design and execute real world evidence generation and lead dissemination.

Proven leadership and demonstrated ability to effectively motivate local, regional and global cross-functional leaders.

Track record of working effectively to shape the market and influence key decision makers.

Preferred

Literacy and fluency with OR surgical procedures’ funding pathways and reimbursement mechanisms in the APAC region.

Extensive complex project and vendor management experience.

Analytical and health economic technical rigor with high attention to detail aligned to HTA strategy, protocol-based evidence generation and APAC HCC/Legal operations.

Strong stakeholder management skills, internal and external.
