Robotics & Digital Solutions, a part of the Johnson & Johnson family of companies, is looking for a Systems Integration Manager with strong hands-on experience in robotics systems integration, located in Santa Clara, CA.

In this role you will lead and develop a team of System Integration Engineers responsible for delivering critical subsystems for the OTTAVA™ surgical robotics platform by integrating mechatronic components, hardware, robotics control, and software. You will provide technical mentorship, career coaching, and clear direction to enable strong execution and professional growth.
In addition, you will serve as the integration technical lead for a complex electromechanical subsystem, guiding a multidisciplinary team through prototyping, bring‑up, characterization, calibration, and manufacturing readiness.
Core Job Responsibilities:
- Grow and support engineers through technical mentorship, career development, timely feedback, and work planning to build a high‑performing team.
- Recruit and onboard new engineers to grow and scale the team
- Collaborate with stakeholders on project planning to decompose high-level program goals into executable technical milestones and tasks
- Lead electromechanical subsystem integration by developing integration plans and driving execution across multidisciplinary teams spanning hardware, software, controls, clinical, and manufacturing partners.
- Contribute hands‑on as needed to system bring‑up, characterization, calibration, manufacturing test definition, risk analysis, root cause investigation, and novel feature development.
- Participate in initiatives in the wider organization to increase cross-team collaboration and efficiency. Develop new processes, align with stakeholders, and build relationships
Qualifications:
One of the following combinations of years of experience and education are required:
A.) BS in Robotics, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent with 8+ years of relevant experience
B.) MS in Robotics, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent with 5+ years of relevant experience
C.) PhD in Robotics, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent with 3+ years of relevant experience
Qualifications continued:
- 2+ years of experience leading and mentoring people as a People Manager or Individual Contributor technical lead (inclusive of direct or dotted-line reports) is required.
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, and organizational skills through ownership of multi‑person, multi‑month technical programs is required.
- 5+ years of experience prototyping, designing, integrating, and characterizing electromechanical systems that include sensors and actuators is required.
- 2+ years of experience developing and driving system integration and test plans is required.
- Experience in surgical robotics is preferred.
The anticipated base pay range for this position is $134,000 - $231,150.
Subject to the terms of their respective policies and date of hire, employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:
- Vacation –120 hours per calendar year
- Sick time - 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Colorado –48 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington –56 hours per calendar year
- Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays –13 days per calendar year
- Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
- Parental Leave – 480 hours within one year of the birth/adoption/foster care of a child
- Bereavement Leave – 240 hours for an immediate family member: 40 hours for an extended family member per calendar year
- Caregiver Leave – 80 hours in a 52-week rolling period10 days
- Volunteer Leave – 32 hours per calendar year
- Military Spouse Time-Off – 80 hours per calendar year
