Purpose: The Preclinical Compliance & Safety Team develops, maintains, and delivers compliance strategies and programs supporting non-GXP and GXP Discovery and Preclinical development work, while also overseeing laboratory safety. The team enables fit-for-purpose processes, tools, and ways of working, and partners closely with cross-functional team members to support a safe laboratory environment and ensure data are reconstructable, reliable, and able to withstand internal and external scrutiny.
The Preclinical Compliance & Safety team translates regulatory and legal requirements into practical guidance, serving as a key liaison between Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) and functional leaders. The team supports inspection readiness, including inspection preparation, support, and compliance governance in partnership with the Quality organization. The team also leads key operational compliance activities such as training and knowledge management, procedural documents, data and materials transfer and archiving, licensing and acquisition compliance, controlled substances oversight, and reporting of compliance and safety metrics.
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Life Sciences, Natural Sciences, Business, Information Management, or a related field.
- A minimum of 1 year of relevant professional experience is preferred.
- Understanding of the drug discovery, development, or regulated research environment is preferred.
- Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills are required.
- Excellent organizational and project coordination skills are required, including the ability to prioritize, follow up on actions, maintain attention to detail, and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills are required, with the ability to work effectively across functions and levels of the organization.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required, including the ability to communicate clearly, influence without authority, and adapt messages to different audiences.
- Digital proficiency is required, with experience or strong interest in knowledge management systems, document management platforms, information-sharing tools, and emerging AI-powered technologies that improve knowledge discovery, content organization, and operational efficiency.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively is required, demonstrating initiative, ownership and curiosity. Comfortable leveraging digital and AI-enabled tools to streamline processes, enhance productivity, and support continuous improvement.
