Johnson & Johnson is recruiting for a Manager, Operational Excellence, Automation, and Data located in Manila, Philippines

The Manager, Operational Excellence, Automation, and Data (OPEX) leads the strategy, governance, and delivery of operational excellence, digital enablement, and analytics across Global Learning Enablement (GLE).

This role is responsible for two Senior Supervisors (OPEX & Digital Enablement and OPEX & Analytics) and serves as the strategic connector between enterprise systems, data insights, and continuous-improvement initiatives.

The Manager is accountable for end-to-end process optimization, lifecycle management, and performance measurement through effective project governance, data integrity, and technology stewardship. Acting as both a strategist and integrator, this leader ensures alignment to business priorities, supports digital transformation, and cultivates a culture of operational excellence and innovation across global learning operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Excellence Strategy & Governance

  • Lead the global Operational Excellence strategy, driving simplification, automation, and standardization across the learning ecosystem.
  • Oversee lifecycle management and project governance, ensuring all initiatives are supervised, prioritized, and aligned to enterprise objectives.
  • Own the Plan-on-a-Page goal-setting process for GLE, facilitating alignment between strategic outcomes, operational metrics, and team performance.
  • Manage the development and accuracy of MBR and QBR materials, providing data-driven insights to senior leadership and ensuring readiness for executive reviews.
  • Drive continuous-improvement frameworks, embedding Lean, Agile, and data-driven methodologies across GLE operations.
  • Partner with senior leaders to evaluate business needs and translate them into measurable performance goals and process enhancements.

Digital Enablement & Systems Leadership

  • Supervise digital platforms supporting operational excellence (e.g., CVENT, SUMMIT, ServiceNow, Power Platform, SharePoint), ensuring strong governance, security, and adoption.
  • Establish and maintain enterprise-level digital standards and governance practices to ensure tool optimization and compliance with IT, Legal, and HR Digital frameworks.
  • Identify, evaluate, and deploy new technologies or automations that improve user experience, efficiency, and scalability.
  • Partner cross-functionally with HR Digital, IT, and Global Services to ensure cohesive integration of digital tools and learning operations.
  • Serve as CVENT Business Owner, responsible for platform strategy, enhancement roadmap, vendor coordination, and user governance.

Data & Analytics Leadership

  • Lead enterprise data-excellence strategy ensuring integrity, accuracy, and governance across metrics, dashboards, and analytics solutions.
  • Guide the integration of diverse data sources (e.g., NPS, utilization, operational metrics, learning effectiveness) into unified reporting.
  • Translate data insights into actionable recommendations for decision-making and business improvement.
  • Champion consistent data storytelling and visualization standards to drive transparency and executive engagement.
  • Assess and communicate performance trends through quarterly scorecards and executive dashboards.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead and coach the Senior Supervisors and their extended teams to drive accountability, agility, and a high-performance culture.
  • Champion the J&J 5 Conversations framework and foster a Credo-based environment of trust, transparency, and inclusion.
  • Promote knowledge-sharing, professional development, and collaboration across functions and geographies.
  • Model agility, data-driven decision-making, and digital curiosity to inspire innovation within and beyond the OPEX team.
  • Serve as the GLE APAC Regional Leader and member of the GLE Leadership Team

Qualifications

Education:

  • Required Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Data Analytics, Human Resources or Information Systems required.
  • Required Years of Related Experience: Minimum 8–10 years of progressive experience in Operational Excellence, Analytics, Process Improvement, or Digital Enablement within a global organization.
  • Minimum 4 years of direct people-leadership experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Uncompromised requirements for the role):

  • Demonstrated expertise in operational-excellence methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, Agile) and governance frameworks.
  • Strong command of data analytics, critical metric creation, and performance-reporting systems (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
  • Proven experience managing enterprise digital platforms (CVENT, ServiceNow, Power Automate, SharePoint).
  • Exceptional skills in project governance, prioritization, and portfolio tracking.
  • Strategic planning acuity with ability to connect business strategy to operational execution.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder-management abilities, including executive-level presentation skills.
  • Strong problem-solving, systems thinking, business insight and organizational-change leadership.
  • Ability to lead globally distributed teams and drive collaboration across functions.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or Project Management (PMP/Agile) certification.
  • Experience implementing automation and AI-enabled analytics solutions.
  • Sophisticated proficiency with Power Platform, Alteryx, RPA, or Python.
  • Familiarity with data-governance, privacy, and compliance frameworks.
  • Confirmed ability to develop executive dashboards and lead business reviews

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or Project Management (PMP/Agile) certification.
  • Experience implementing automation and AI-enabled analytics solutions.
  • Sophisticated proficiency with Power Platform, Alteryx, RPA, or Python.
  • Familiarity with data-governance, privacy, and compliance frameworks.
  • Ability to develop executive dashboards and lead business reviews
  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience in Business Administration, Operations Management, Data Science, or a related subject area.
  • Preferred Related Proven Experience: Background in Learning & Development, Shared Services, Technology, or Healthcare operations.

20% Travel required Domestic and International
