Position Summary
Director, Finance Transformation is a senior technology and transformation leader responsible for shaping and executing the Finance ERP target state roadmap for Johnson & Johnson's Finance SAP S/4HANA ecosystem and enabling finance transacting process simplification. This role provides end-to-end technology leadership for shaping roadmaps, technology solution, deployments, and ongoing evolution of core finance transaction process simplification across Invoice-to-Cash (I2C), Procure-to-Pay (P2P), Record-to-Report (R2R), Treasury, Tax, and related finance platforms.
The Director is accountable for translating finance transformation priorities into scalable technology solutions that standardize, simplify, automate, and strengthen financial processes, controls, and data integrity across the enterprise. Leveraging deep expertise in SAP S/4HANA Finance, finance operations, and large-scale ERP transformations, this leader will drive business value through technology core modernization and innovation while ensuring solutions are secure, compliant, resilient, and aligned with enterprise architecture standards.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
1. Finance S/4 Transformation leadership
- ERP target state - Define and shape the strategic roadmap for the Finance SAP S/4HANA transacting platform, ensuring alignment to enterprise finance transformation priorities, business value, regulatory needs, and technology modernization goals.
- Provide technology leadership on SAP S/4HANA Finance, Central Finance, APM, VIM, Treasury, Tax, I2C, P2P, R2R, and related finance systems.
- Translate finance business strategies into scalable technology capabilities, sequencing transformation work across releases, deployments, integrations, and run-state priorities.
- Identify required investments, capability gaps, dependencies, risks, and value opportunities across the finance technology portfolio.
2. End-to-End Finance Process Design and Simplification
- Lead end-to-end design and integration of finance processes within SAP S/4HANA, ensuring transaction flows, posting logic, master data, controls, and reporting outcomes are designed holistically.
- Drive process simplification, standardization, and reduction of customizations by maximizing SAP standard capabilities and eliminating manual workarounds.
- Ensure finance processes are designed with strong business controls, audit readiness, SOX compliance, data integrity, and operational resilience.
- Partner with Finance process owners to simplify and modernize high-volume transactional processes, for example invoice processing, payment execution, cash application, intercompany, close, reconciliations, and exception management.
3. Finance Transacting Process Simplification and Automation
- Create the roadmap for simplifying, standardizing, and automating core finance transacting processes where there is clear business value, control readiness, and technology feasibility.
- Identify opportunities to reduce manual effort, streamline handoffs, and improve exception management across close, reconciliation, invoice exception handling, cash application, payment matching, forecasting support, and operational issue resolution.
- Partner with AI, data, architecture, security, and governance teams to ensure automation and emerging technology solutions are compliant, explainable, secure, auditable, and aligned with enterprise standards.
- Evaluate and guide the use of SAP-native capabilities, SAP BTP, SAP Business Data Cloud, SAP Datasphere, Microsoft Copilot, intelligent automation, and approved AI tools to enable pragmatic value now and scalable capabilities over time.
4. Program Execution and Delivery Leadership
- Lead execution of the Finance S/4 transformation roadmap across complex global deployments, releases, and integration milestones.
- Own delivery plans, resource needs, dependency management, testing strategy, cutover readiness, risk mitigation, and value realization for capabilities in scope.
- Drive disciplined SDLC execution, solution governance, release management, vendor performance, and program financial accountability.
- Proactively identify blockers, integration risks, capacity constraints, and design decisions requiring escalation, and bring cross-functional teams together to resolve issues.
5. Technology Architecture, Data, and Integration Leadership
- Provide leadership across finance application architecture, integration patterns, data flows, and platform decisions supporting SAP S/4 Finance and connected systems.
- Ensure integrations with boundary systems, treasury platforms, tax engines, procurement solutions, reporting layers, data platforms, and AI-enabled services are secure, resilient, scalable, and fit for enterprise operations.
- Partner with enterprise architecture and cybersecurity teams to guide decisions across SAP BTP, Integration Suite, APIs, data platforms, analytics, cloud infrastructure, and emerging SAP capabilities.
- Ensure technology design enables business continuity, system stability, performance, observability, and long-term supportability.
6. Stakeholder, Talent, and Operating Model Leadership
- Serve as a trusted strategic partner to senior Finance and Technology leaders, translating complex finance process needs into clear technology choices and executable roadmaps.
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of functional, technical, product, architecture, and delivery professionals.
- Build strong partnerships across global, sector, and regional teams to align priorities, manage interdependencies, and drive adoption of standard finance capabilities.
- Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, inclusion, continuous improvement, and disciplined delivery.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in Information Technology, Finance, Business, Engineering, or related field preferred.
- 15+ years of experience in global technology, finance process transformation, ERP transformation, or enterprise application leadership roles.
- 10+ years of deep SAP S/4HANA Finance experience, including large-scale implementation, deployment, integration, or platform leadership responsibilities.
- Strong functional understanding of finance transacting processes such as accounting , including Invoice-to-Cash, Procure-to-Pay, Record-to-Report, Treasury, Tax, payments, close, reconciliations, intercompany, and financial controls.
- Proven experience leading SAP S/4 Finance transformation programs, Central Finance, global template deployments, and integration with multiple source ERPs or boundary systems.
- Demonstrated ability to define technology strategy, build roadmaps, manage investment priorities, and execute complex global transformation programs.
- Experience with SAP BTP, SAP Integration Suite, SAP Datasphere, SAP Analytics Cloud, SAP Business Data Cloud, BW/4HANA, cloud platforms, APIs, middleware, or enterprise data platforms preferred. RISE migration experience is a plus
- Strong data skills and Knowledge of AI, GenAI, intelligent automation, agentic workflows, machine learning, or automation use cases in finance strongly preferred.
- 10+ years of people leadership experience, including building, mentoring, and leading high-performing teams in a matrixed global environment.
- Demonstrated experience managing vendors, system integrators, budgets, contracts, delivery quality, and senior stakeholder expectations.
- Strong understanding of SDLC, SOX, GxP where applicable, cybersecurity, data privacy, audit readiness, and IT governance requirements.
- Excellent communication, influencing, executive storytelling, and decision-framing skills, with the ability to engage effectively across Finance, Technology, and senior leadership audiences.
