Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopedics business to establish a standalone orthopedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. Purpose:
Depuy Synthes is committed to creating competitive advantage by passionately & proactively leading Planning Optimization & Synchronization, addressing E2E plan imbalances via exception-based & scenario-based methodologies to achieve the most profitable balance of customer service, cost, and inventory across existing Supply Chains. E2E Planner leads brand/portfolio synchronization, driving critical decisions with business partners to address supply chain imbalances & achieve outstanding customer service & inventory optimization thereby realizing the operational & strategic goals of the Shoulder franchise
Duties & Responsibilities
- Defines inventory de-coupling points and develops replenishment strategies.
- Reviews supply chain parameters in alignment with sites, e.g., batch sizes, make frequencies, safety stock levels, minimum order quantities, lead times, etc.
- Ensures the development & alignment of constrained E2E production and inventory plans.
- Ensures accurate generation of requirements across the supply chain.
- Develops scenarios to avoid or resolve potential constraints.
- Is accountable for adherence to inventory targets by aligning the supply plan with the demand plan & adhering to E2E SC configuration.
Monthly IBP Responsibility & Accountability:
- Partners with Demand Planning in Global Demand ‘Hand-Off’ being released to Supply.
- Partners SNP & PP&L in Supply Plan Validation.
- Deep understanding of exceptions (STEM) & Issue Management
- Provides VSMs & VSTs insights to the brand dynamics for each IBP Cycle.
- Drive critical trade-off decisions with business partners to address supply chain imbalances & achieve best in class customer service.
Inventory Optimization including E&O Management
- Partner Inventory MGT in validating Entitlement/MEIO Modelling inputs & results.
- Partner Inventory Management in identifying Inventory Optimization opportunities.
- Drive execution of optimization opportunities.
- Responsible for the adherence to the E&O Target.
- Responsible for FBP Inventory Projections & bridging analysis of inventory actuals Quarterly results
NPI Planning (Phase In/Phase Out LCM)
- EPL is NPI core team member from Project MGT Stage Gate 1: Plan & Commit
- Responsible to assess ability to supply relevant NPI Demand Scenarios thru monthly IBP process framework.
- NPI Planning includes Phase In/Phase out LCM
- Perform an annual assessment of the portfolio and product code segmentation into the appropriate service levels
LRPP/FBP/JU/NU Business Planning
- Partners VSMs, LCMs, SCMs, IM in annual LRPP process.
- Deep understanding of portfolio supply chain configuration & support VSMs, LCMs & SCMs with insight to the configuration & identifying risks & opportunties.
- Responsible to drive FBP Inventory Projections.
Scenario Management: Responsible to assess ability to supply relevant Scenarios:
- Commercial Upside/Downside LRPP Demand
- Tenders
- Commercial Events
Value Stream Team (VST) Core Member
- VST Planning Lead for Portfolios: Single POC for the VST
- Partner VSTs in delivering the Portfolio Strategy.
- Partner VSMs in IBP Cycle: Decision Alignment Partners.
- Provide VSTs with monthly IBP insight for Portfolio
- Responsible to have deep understanding of dynamics such as Regulatory.
Supports the Planning teams.
- Drives a multiplatform product-based planning team, directly or indirectly, to ensure implementation of the E2E SC configuration, to ensure supply to patients and to achieve the E2E inventory targets.
- Drives the Value Stream Team members to implement supply chain improvements in line with product strategies, get alignment on the E2E Planning Cycle, and incorporate the feedback on projects into the plans.
Metrics: OTIF/Service, Inventory Health & Optimization. Expiry & Obsolescence

- Responsible for communicating business-related issues or opportunities to the next management level
- Responsible for following all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices as applicable.

Experience and Education
- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree is required or relevant experience.
- A minimum of proven ability in Manufacturing, Supply Chain and/or Logistics is required.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES and AFFILIATIONS
- Critical thinking, ability to develop, cultivate and implement change.
- Excellent collaborator, solid understanding & partnering ability with all business functions.
- Plant supply planning experience is required, preferably in a multi-echelon supply chain.
- Ability to work across organizational boundaries through influence, negotiation and partnering in a global environment required.
- Demonstrated experience with several of the following processes: inventory management and inventory entitlement, supply chain management, supply planning/master production scheduling, scenario analysis, IBP, and process excellence (Lean, 6sigma) required.
- Ability to manage multiple initiatives and work in a matrix environment where priorities change rapidly, and tight deadlines exist required.
- Strong communication, analytical and quantitative skills required.
- High proficiency with Microsoft software packages (Excel, PowerPoint) required.
- Flexibility needed on ad hoc basis to accommodate working with different time zones.
- Proven business savviness in the areas of Supply Chain, Commercial and Financial preferred.
- Manufacturing, Supply Chain and/or Logistics experience in the Health Care Industry or related industries is strongly preferred.
