This role is part of the Global Services Finance team in the Invoice to Cash process area. The Global Services Finance organization provides best-in-class, cost-effective financial services, and compliance—in a J&J way—to our Operating Companies around the world.
The I2C Manager (Collections) is accountable for leading end‑to‑end collections operations across multiple teams and complex customer portfolios within a defined cluster, region, or process scope. This role drives sustainable cash outcomes by optimizing cash flow, minimizing financial risk, and ensuring consistent execution of segment‑based collections strategies. This position owns performance delivery against key metrics (ex. DSO, AR aging), serves as a primary escalation and decision authority, and balances cash optimization with customer relationships and governance requirements. This role reports to the I2C Senior Manager (Collections) and operates as the critical management layer translating regional or global strategy into disciplined operational execution.
Key Responsibilities:

- Maintain Operational Excellence
- Own and oversee end‑to‑end collections operations across multiple teams and complex customer portfolios within a defined cluster, region, or process scope.
- Drive delivery of cash performance outcomes (ex., DSO, past‑due exposure, dispute aging, write‑offs, collection efficiency), balancing cash acceleration with customer relationships and business continuity.
- Ensure consistent execution of segment‑based collections strategies aligned with the Calibrated Collections Capability.
- Act as a senior escalation and decision authority for the defined cluster, region, or process scope.
- Oversee period‑end and financial close activities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, audit readiness, and strong internal controls.
- Own and oversee consolidated collections and AR forecasting for the assigned scope, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and forward‑looking visibility.
- Drive the forecasting cadence by reviewing inputs from teams, validating assumptions, and aligning projections with historical performance, customer behavior, and identified risks.
- Partner with FP&A and senior stakeholders to align collections forecasts with financial plans, targets, and management expectations.
- Identify forecast variances, emerging risks, and opportunities, and initiate corrective actions to mitigate gaps to plan.
- Identify portfolio‑level risks and implement effective mitigation actions within delegated authority.
- Ensure full compliance with applicable laws, regulations, internal policies, and J&J Credo principles, establishing a strong risk and governance culture.
- Talent Management
- Lead, coach, and develop the team, building a strong leadership and succession pipeline.
- Set clear performance expectations, conduct regular performance reviews, and drive accountability for results.
- Foster high team engagement through regular communication, coaching, and feedback.
- Identify capability gaps and ensure targeted development in collections strategy, negotiation, risk management, and stakeholder engagement.
- Promote a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, collaboration, and compliance across the collections organization.
- Be a Trusted Business Partner
- Act as Collections partner to Commercial, Customer Service, Legal, and Supply Chain, BUF and other I2C partners.
- Influence cross‑functional decision‑making to resolve systemic issues impacting cash flow, disputes, or customer payment behavior.
- Translate commercial and market strategies into aligned collections execution plans.
- Provide consolidated insights and forward‑looking perspectives on AR risks, trends, and performance to senior leadership and business partners.
- Support Operating Companies by balancing cash optimization with customer experience and long‑term value.
- Create Game-Changing Innovation
- Lead and sponsor continuous improvement initiatives to enhance collections effectiveness, efficiency, insights, and customer experience.
- Champion and oversee adoption of new tools, analytics, automation solutions, and ways of working across teams.
- Support process standardization and scaling of best practices across clusters or regions.
- Participate in pilots, transformation initiatives, and change programs impacting the Invoice‑to‑Cash function.
- Contribute to the refinement of collections playbooks, governance models, and performance frameworks.
- Contribute input to regional collections strategy and capability roadmap development.
Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required, preferably in Accounting or Finance or related business discipline.
- CPA, CMA, MBA or other relevant professional certifications are preferred.
Experience & Background
- 8–10 years of progressive experience, preferably in Finance, Invoice‑to‑Cash operations.
- At least 4-7 years of people management experience, including leadership of senior individual contributors and/or team leads.
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple teams or cluster‑level operations, with accountability for cash and risk outcomes.
- Proven ability to translate regional or functional strategy into operational execution, driving sustained performance improvements.
- Experience delivering cash flow optimization and financial risk mitigation through structured, data‑driven approaches.
- Comfortable presenting performance results, risks, and recommendations to senior leaders and cross‑functional stakeholders.
- Proven ability to operate with full accountability for outcomes, including managing ambiguity, prioritizing competing demands, and delivering against stretch targets.
· Experience in a shared services, BPO, or multinational environment is an advantage.
