- The Maintenance Engineering Manager is responsible to develop & execute the maintenance strategies and objectives at ETHICON, Aurangabad site. Provides leadership to the maintenance engineers, executive engineers and maintenance technicians and ensures the support from maintenance functions for executions of maintenance & improvement projects as well supporting day to day operations
- Lead activities of the Maintenance Department to support the manufacture of Medical device products in a regulated environment and maximize the benefit to the company.
- Work with the Site Engineering Head and site personnel to develop and implement robust processes for maintenance and reliability of manufacturing equipment, as well as, establish a high performance and continuous improvement culture driven by key performance metrics, benchmarking and sharing of best practices.
- Provide management, direction and resource management necessary to operate, troubleshoot, set up, adjust, repair and maintain manufacturing equipment supporting manufacturing processes.
- Develop and implement standardized operating processes, procedures, and practices for the maintenance team.
- Provide strategic leadership for the Maintenance Excellence program and partner with Manufacturing Operations to provide optimal life cycle costs and ensure reliability of manufacturing equipment.
- Understand site strategies and expectations and translate them into sustainable maintenance solutions as part of a site/platform master plan.
- Be the single point of contact for Maintenance and ensure efficient, reliable, and high-quality deployment of site maintenance utilizing an effective balance of internal and external resources including service providers.
- Be able to make decisions and provide direction to ensure uninterrupted service and minimal equipment downtime to ensure product quality and manufacturing efficiency
- Lead the resolution of technical and operational issues that may arise, as well as, ensure the functionality and the proper maintenance of all equipment for in support of the Good Manufacturing (GMP) manufacturing operations onsite.
- Be able to develop and partner with equipment & tooling suppliers to deliver innovative solutions
- Lead setting, tracking and achievement of annual maintenance goals and objectives including metric improvement targets. Sponsor continuous improvement activities focused on these goals.
- Work closely with direct reports and Finance in the development and control of business strategy and plans, budgets, cost expenditure, and cost control.
- Establish and manage relationships with contractors to ensure quality of work and compliance with all company policies and regulatory guidelines.
- Evaluate skills of the maintenance team and implements plans to close any gaps. Responsible for formal talent development strategy and succession planning for the maintenance department.
- Develop and enhance the maintenance organization through effective organizational design, selection, development, training, and performance management of all staff.
- Ensure site compliance with all local, state and federal regulations including and equivalent to Federal Drug Administration (FDA) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) as applicable.
- Collaborate with J&J Regulatory, Quality, and EHS&S to ensure compliance and product quality.
- Be able to fill in for Site Engineering Head when necessary.
