Package Engineer Co-op
J&J Vision (JJSV & JJVC)
This co-op position will seek to challenge an aspiring package engineer who is passionate about the healthcare industry. Selected candidate(s) will gain a working knowledge of healthcare packaging design, validation, verification, procurement, specification development, amongst other topics.
Candidates with critical thinking, problem solving, and enthusiastic mindsets are preferred.
Incumbent will support the development and validation of packaging systems and processes for both sterile and non-sterile products.
Main areas of responsibility:
Supporting and leading project deliverables delegated to co-op from Package Engineers.
Development of a working knowledge of relative regulations, industry consensus standards and test method standards:

o International Standards Organization (ISO)

Work on internal package engineering procedure improvement projects.
Ability to work on projects effecting internationally distributed brands. E.g., Acuvue, Tecnis, etc.
Manage working relationships with stakeholders across technical and business functions of the business through a project management office (PMO).
Interact with outside suppliers for packaging design development, evaluation, and testing.
Enhancement of soft skills and hard skills to drive towards mastering of the above functions and responsibilities.
End of co-op presentation portraying portfolio of work outcomes.
Must be able to work 6-12 months as a full-time employee starting in either January, April, or June.
This position shall give no supervision to others.
This position will be under the supervision of full time Package Engineers and will carry out general instructions in accordance with standard practice.
Requires some initiative and judgment.
Actions will be checked periodically.
Minimum education required for competent performance:
Working on obtaining B.A./B.S. in engineering or scientific field required; B.S. in Package Engineering preferred;
Preferred package engineering related discipline in an accredited college program. E.g., Package engineering, Packaging Science, Industrial Technology etc.
Permanently authorized to work in the U.S., must not require sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g., H-1B or green card) at the time of application or in the future. Students currently on CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT usually requires future sponsorship for long term employment and do not meet the requirements for this program unless eligible for an alternative long-term status that does not require company sponsorship.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :
$23.00/hr to $51.50/hrAdditional Description for Pay Transparency:
The expected pay range for this position is between $23.00 per hour and $51.50 per hour but will be based on candidate's program year, discipline, degree and/or experience. Co-Ops/Interns are eligible to participate in Company sponsored employee medical benefits in accordance with the terms of the plan. Co-Ops and Interns are eligible for the following sick time benefits: up to 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington, up to 56 hours per calendar year. Co-Ops and Interns are eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension).
