Johnson & Johnson is recruiting for an Associate Manager, Health Economics Market Access (HEMA), Malaysia for the Johnson & Johnson MedTech Surgery business. This is an end-to-end role with a focus on MedTech implants and enabling technologies aligned to Surgery; Advanced Wound Closure, Haemostasis, Endo Mechanical, Energy and Robotics platforms.
Reporting to the Associate Director Regional HEMA (RHEMA) & SEA, Surgery, the Associate Manager HEMA role for Surgery partners cross-functionally to build and execute integrated market access strategies, leveraging health economics and value creation for the adoption and payment of Surgery MedTech innovation.
This role will:
Compile all New Product Innovation (NPI) MaHTAS HTA applications for approval to supply Malaysia’s National Public Healthcare system whilst monitoring Horizon Scanning.
Proactively leverage support from the Associate Director RHEMA SEA, Surgery, coordinate internal cross-functional team engagement, seek input and partnership on access strategy with RHEMA and Malaysia’s commercial leaders.
Directly engage with the Ministry of Health, and MaHTAS assessment application and assessment processes, leveraging support from the Associate Director RHEMA SEA, Surgery.
Educate and inform RHEMA and local cross-functional teams on critical integrated market access requirements for successful MaHTAS listing to generate public sector coverage aligned to all Surgery technology and associated procedures.
Educate and inform RHEMA and local cross-functional teams on mandatory evidence requirements to oblige Malaysia’s market access with payment from all payers, for Surgeon adoption of Surgery MedTech innovation aligned to patient treatment.
Support the Associate Director RHEMA SEA, Surgery, collaborating with respective local cross-functional partners internally to execute economic value creation analyses and leverage the growing public-private partnerships with Malaysia’s Private Healthcare Sector.
Partner with Malaysia Surgery commercial leaders to address local market hospital administrators, surgeons & surgical societies to gain insights that demonstrates Malaysia specific clinical, procedural and economic value of J&J MedTech Surgery products.
Support the Associate Director RHEMA SEA, Surgery to inform Global HEMA on Malaysia relevant research endpoints and health economic data to address MaHTAS HTA access and value creation market adoption needs.
Build partnerships with local commercial teams and RHEMA, to customise & build relevant economic tools to inform external stakeholders of J&J MedTech Surgery innovation value, aligned to global market access and pricing strategies.
Lead evidence dissemination, including development of customer-facing materials that support the value proposition, value creation, adoption and payment of J&J MedTech’s Surgery products in Malaysia.
Key Responsibilities Include
Supporting Malaysia’s “integrated” evidence strategy for optimising early access and reimbursement for new product technologies by identifying evidence requirements and prioritizing relevant endpoints and analyses that support Malaysia’s access value proposition and stakeholder needs.
Define each New Product Innovation (NPI) and compile the MaHTAS HTA agency application for submission and assessment. Manage the process end-to-end, establishing deep partnership and collaboration with Malaysia commercial leaders and teams and external government and private sector payers.
Support RHEMA SEA to align RWE study execution, including site selection, data collection, and analysis as needed.
Customise Global and Regional evidence into Malaysia customer-facing materials (e.g., value summaries, cost-of-care analysis, hospital case studies) for all external stakeholders; namely MaHTAS HTA, hospital level Value Assessment bodies, hospital executive level and all payers.
Partner with Malaysia’s Marketing and Sales Teams to deliver consistent value messages supported by appropriate education, tools, and evidence.
Support the Associate Director RHEMA SEA, Surgery on defining market access needs and reimbursement policy trends to support the evidentiary strategies and evidence generation aligned to MedTech adoption, payment, value creation and commercial success.
Support the Associate Director RHEMA SEA, Surgery in representing the voice of external, non-clinical stakeholders (e.g., MaHTAS HTA, VAC, hospital administrators) and ensure market access deliverables are aligned to the Malaysia commercial business goals.
What you will bring
Required
Bachelor’s degree (Science, Applied Science, Health Economics, Public Health Policy) and/or a Masters (Science/Medical/Health Economics/Health Policy/Business Administration) ideally in a healthcare-related field.
Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in Malaysia’s healthcare industry.
Demonstrated acumen in Malaysia’s MaHTAS HTA access, MedTech industry, with foundational surgical procedural knowledge.
Sound understanding of the Malaysia access policy environment, external marketplace and access requirements that drive MedTech value creation and adoption.
Demonstrated growth mindset and ability to apply learning to interpret and communicate health economic deliverables (e.g., cost utility, effectiveness, consequence and budget impact modelling, analyses).
Well versed communication and training skills to translate complex evidence into succinct value narratives building customer relevant tools and materials.
Demonstrated growth mindset and ability to collaborate, build credibility with internal and external customers; clinical, commercial, payer and hospital audiences.
Preferred
Demonstrated local Malaysia commercial and cross-functional stakeholder engagement skills, including Regulatory, Marketing, Government Affairs, Sales and RHEMA.
Project & time management skills with demonstrated experience to support MaHTAS HTA compilation, build value creation tools, support health outcomes research with leadership from the Associate Director RHEMA SEA, Surgery.
Analytical and health economic technical foundation with high attention to detail aligned to MaHTAS HTA compilation and value assessment dossier development.
Introductory understanding of OR surgical procedures aligned to open and laparoscopic techniques, key to the Surgery platforms’ economic variables to define value (e.g. personnel, scheduling, costs, clinical pathways, key performance indicators).
Strategic thinking to develop an overview relevant to Malaysia’s treatment pathways that translate clinical and procedural information that leverages early access approval and adoption.
Open to gaining experience of a hospital setting to gather critical insights to Surgery aligned patient procedures, treatment and pathway management is highly preferred.
