Specialist Technician, Production Equipment Repair & Maintenance (S3)
Complies with managerial requirements for core tasks for the support function of the Production Equipment Repair & Maintenance unit, and follows routine administrative processes to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and quality of deliverables.
Organizes collective data relative to the technical implementation, modification and ongoing monitoring of the quality, safety and efficiency of discrete production of unit-based items assembled from component parts.
Compiles strategic data to communicate with Manufacturing Engineers to develop Repair and Maintenance schematics for the rollout of new and improved repair and maintenance processes, tools and equipment.
Helps develop operational control standards and testing equipment to assess conformance with engineering specifications, including test apparatus of raw materials, parts, components, finished items and packaging.
Helps identify and escalates technical production line problems to minimize finished item rejection levels, monitoring gauges and other indicators of production equipment and machinery performance.

Responsible for ensuring that all the planned maintenance and/or calibration work assigned to him/her for all the production equipment is performed, keeping the expected levels of the department in the GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), write down of observations and communicates with his/her supervisor for correction. The activities of this position require direct supervision of the Lead Technician, Production Equipment Repair & Maintenance.
Under limited supervision and in accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson, procedures and guidelines, this position:
Techniques:
Develops the abilities of lower-level technicians, like performing complex internal and external procedures as well as the management of out of tolerance conditions observed during the execution of any procedure.
Performs procedures with a moderate and high degree of difficulty.
Performs the planned activities of maintenance/calibration according to the approved methods and documentation.
Participates in the transfer of new production lines.
Knows the installation and validation process of the equipment required in the area assigned under the established guidelines.
Can provide technical assistance and guidance to lower level technicians.
Provides support and follows instructions from the Lead Technician, Production Equipment Repair & Maintenance.

Requirements:
- Associate Degree or Technical Diploma in Electronics, Electrical, Electromechanical, Instrumentation, Mechanical Engineering, Metrology, or related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in calibration, metrology, maintenance, or a related technical field.
- Experience performing calibrations of measuring and test equipment (temperature, pressure, humidity, electrical, dimensional, timers, scales, etc.).
- Knowledge of metrology fundamentals, measurement uncertainty, traceability, and calibration principles.
- Ability to execute calibration procedures, work instructions, and job plans accurately.
- Experience coordinating external calibration services and tracking calibration schedules.
- Familiarity with CMMS systems (MAXIMO preferred) for work order execution, documentation, and calibration record management.
- Knowledge of GMP, FDA regulated environments, ISO 13485, and ISO/IEC 17025 requirements preferred.
- Experience supporting investigations related to Out-of-Tolerance (OOT) conditions and nonconformances.
- Ability to review calibration certificates and verify compliance with internal requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and basic data analysis.
- Strong organizational and scheduling skills for managing multiple calibration activities simultaneously.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
- English proficiency (read, write, and communicate technical information).
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute routine and non-routine calibrations according to approved procedures.
- Coordinate internal and external calibration activities to ensure on-time completion.
- Review and process calibration certificates and supporting documentation.
- Support audit readiness and compliance activities.
- Investigate and document Out-of-Tolerance events when required.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives related to calibration and metrology processes.
