Job Overview

Established and productive individual contributor who works under moderate supervision. Responsible for supporting import and export operations by coordinating customs clearance, managing trade data, resolving shipment and regulatory issues, supporting classification and Country of Origin activities, responding to customs inquiries, and partnering with cross-functional teams to maintain compliant and efficient global supply chain operations in a regulated medical device environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Support end-to-end import and export activities for regulated products, including day-to-day operational issue resolution.
• Coordinate with Customs Brokers, Freight Forwarders, carriers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to facilitate compliant and timely customs clearance.
• Review and validate commercial invoices, shipping documents, customs declarations, and supporting documentation for accuracy and compliance.
• Monitor shipment activity, customs entry status, holds, notifications, and compliance alerts triggered by import declarations; proactively resolve clearance issues.
• Manage cross-border pre-filing regulatory requirements and support pre-advice process maintenance, revisions, and toolkit updates.
• Support clearance for transactions under special programs, including Import for Export and other applicable import/export processes.
• Partner with Education Logistics to support exports and reimports for surgeon trainings/trade shows.
• Classify products, components, and materials in accordance with applicable tariff schedules, trade regulations, and internal classification procedures.
• Support Country of Origin determinations, including non-preferential origin analysis and origin documentation requirements.
• Maintain accurate classification records, including HTS, Country of Origin, FDA, and customs reporting attributes, to support audits, customs inquiries, and internal reviews.
• Update global trade database and ERP systems for HTS revisions, Country of Origin changes, and other master data updates across relevant platforms.
• Support Free Trade Agreement administration, including preferential Certificates of Origin, USMCA and other FTA requirements, and related origin certifications.
• Perform post-entry reviews, coordinate with Trade Advisory Service and internal leads, and work with brokers to file Post Summary Corrections when required.
• Support customs inquiries, including CF28, CF29, and CF4647 requests, by gathering information from business units and coordinating timely responses.
• Amend import declarations as applicable by region and support duty recovery, supplemental duty bill reviews, and related customs actions.
• Assess business impacts and support implementation activities due to changes in trade regulations, PGA/OGA requirements, and classification rules.
• Resolve classification, PGA, regulatory, and logistics-related questions or discrepancies in partnership with Supply Chain, Trade Compliance, Regulatory, Quality, Procurement, Customer Service, and Logistics teams.
• Track and report compliance errors, support internal controls and compliance reviews, and maintain risk register inputs, MAP items, and related corrective actions.
• Escalate and document matters requiring risk register or MAP closure, including applicable liquidated damages or other customs-related compliance issues.
• Support TAA certification requirements for government contracts and assist with franchise-level applicability assessments as needed.
• Support new product introductions, site start-ups, acquisitions, business integrations, product transfers, and supply chain changes by executing and approving cross-border strategic data.
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, work instructions, training materials, and process documentation.
• Generate operational metrics, compliance reporting, and status updates to support leadership visibility and continuous improvement.
• Respond to internal and external requests related to product classification, trade compliance, customs documentation, and import/export operations.

Qualifications

Education

• Required: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, International Trade, or a related field.
• Preferred: Advanced coursework or certification in trade compliance or global logistics.

Experience and Skills

Required:

• 3–5 years of Import/Export, Customs Compliance, International Logistics or Trade Operations experience.
• Working knowledge of HTSUS classification and customs documentation requirements.
• Experience working with Customs Brokers, Freight Forwarders and Transportation Providers.
• Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to interpret regulations, guidance documents, and technical product information.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across cross‑functional and global teams.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage data accurately in a regulated environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel.

Preferred:

• Experience supporting FDA-regulated medical device products.
• NCBFAA Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) or other customs‑related certifications
• Familiarity with ERP or trade compliance systems used in supply chain environments.
• Continuous improvement or process documentation experience.

Other:

• Language: English proficiency required; additional languages are a plus.
• Travel: Limited travel may be required (up to ~10%).
