Director, Strategy and Portfolio Management
Role summary

The Director, Strategy and Portfolio Management leads the planning, governance, and performance reporting that helps Quality & Compliance deliver on its highest-priority commitments. This role shapes executive-ready narratives for critical business-cycle deliverables (e.g., Board updates, Enterprise Quality Reviews, and Executive Committee materials) by translating our actions, metrics, and execution progress into compelling narratives on value, impact, and risk mitigation. The Director partners with our sectors to align Q&C goals, track outcomes against enterprise priorities, and continuously improve portfolio management processes, templates, and reporting. Equally critically, this leader advances strategic initiatives—building business cases, establishing governance, and driving execution and change management—while serving as the Q&C representative on cross-functional programs and coaching project teams to deliver measurable impact. This role reports to the Sr. Director, Strategic Insights & Performance Management and works closely with the Chief Quality Officer and Q&C Leadership Team.
Key responsibilities:
Q&C Portfolio Management and performance reporting
- Lead creation of critical Quality and Compliance annual business‑cycle deliverables, including quarterly presentations to the Board of Directors, semi‑annual Enterprise Quality Review (EQR) to Supply Chain Management Committee, and annual Q&C update to the Executive Committee – translating Q&C risk, insights, and execution into Board and executive ready narratives on value and impact to the enterprise.
- Develop annual enterprise level goals and objectives for Quality and Compliance, translating Q&C’s vision and strategic imperatives into critical annual goals and objectives (G&Os) by working closely with sector and functional Q&C leaders to shape and reflect sector / functional Q&C objectives while ensuring alignment to strategic priorities and must-wins of Innovative Medicine and Medtech
- Manage quarterly tracking and reporting of progress for G&Os, consolidating progress of each Q&C organization to draft quarterly progress, mid-year, and year-end accomplishments narratives.
- Provide quarterly reporting for Q&C priority projects and key performance metrics to Technical Operations & Risk (TO&R) Leadership and other leadership forums as required.
- Develop sustainable approach and drive continuous improvement for portfolio management through refining reporting templates, streamlining business‑cycle processes, and implementing improvements to accelerate delivery and simplify execution.
- Develop and maintain approach to measure value and impacted generated, both for Quality and Compliance in support of enterprise and sector priorities, as well as for Strategic Insights & Performance Management team driving Q&C priorities.
Q&C strategic initiatives and project execution
- Identify, evaluate, and prioritize opportunities to advance the overall Q&C vision and strategic imperatives, focusing on organizational-wide innovations to pursue, efficiencies to capture, gaps to enhance, and risks to mitigate that better enable Q&C to deliver on its mandate to the enterprise
- Translate prioritized opportunities into actionable projects, refining scope, business case, project plan, resourcing and measurement of success to secure leadership buy-in and funding where required
- Lead end-to-end and day-to-day execution and delivery of critical Q&C initiatives and projects, including planning / work-stream development, resource and team set up, governance, risk mitigation, change management, and communications to drive stakeholder alignment
Enterprise, Technical Operations & Risk, and cross-functional initiatives enablement
- Drive execution of required initiatives based on enterprise, Technical Operations & Risk, and/or cross-functional priorities and initiatives, including planning, execution, governance, risk management / escalation
- Serve as Q&C lead on cross-functional initiatives, partnering effectively with cross-functional teams while ensuring clear representation of Q&C requirements and effective alignment from relevant Q&C leadership
- Support other responsibilities, projects, and deliverables across Strategic Insights and Performance Management team as dynamically required, potentially with limited possible advanced planning
Organization, people, and team development
- Lead project-based team(s) effectively while more broadly role modeling strategic initiative execution and project management best practices
- Facilitate mutual talent development for Strategic Insights and Performance Management organization, facilitating sharing of areas of strengths and expertise through formal peer development channels and informal connections
- Provide coaching and mentorship to more junior talent in Strategic Insights and Performance Management organization
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree with strong academic credentials
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience and demonstrated progression
- Project leadership experience with a strong track record of timely execution and driving outcomes through influencing others, especially non-direct reports
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to synthesize complex information, frame decisions, and deliver executive-ready storylines and materials
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; strong data visualization and presentation craftsmanship
Preferred
- Experience from a top-tier management consulting firm (or investment bank) with demonstrated progression
- Advanced degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering, Natural / Physical sciences, Computer Science, Technology, or related field
- Strong analytical and financial modeling skills, including scenario/sensitivity analysis and the ability to translate numerical output into executive insights
- Demonstrated experience identifying and implementing digital, analytics, AI enablement
- Demonstrated effectiveness and impact working closely with senior leadership (VP+) of large corporations
- Ability to work effectively and independently in a dynamic, ambiguous environment while managing multiple priorities with strong attention to detail and deadlines
- Fast learner with intellectual curiosity and collaborative mindset open to new ways of working, learning, coaching, feedback, and sharing of knowledge across a fast-paced, high-demand, execution-oriented team
- Flexibility to meet demands of the role which may occasionally encroach on personal time, although all attempts are made to minimize this

$150,000.00 - $258,750.00Additional Description for Pay Transparency:
Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees are eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)).This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s long-term incentive program.
Subject to the terms of their respective policies and date of hire, employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:
Vacation –120 hours per calendar year
Sick time - 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Colorado –48 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington –56 hours per calendar year
Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays –13 days per calendar year
Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
