Student questions

Check with the campus career services office at your university to see if and when J&J will be visiting your school. As a student, the best way to find a job within our companies is to meet us at a campus event.

In general, we recruit graduating students for full-time jobs between August and November each year. Internship and co-op candidates are recruited between December and January.

If J&J is not scheduled to visit your campus, you can explore and apply for student job opportunities on this site during those periods.

Yes. Many of our companies around the world have internship and co-op assignments for students who are currently enrolled in undergraduate, MBA, and advanced-degree programs.

Applicants must be authorized to work in the country where the job is based and must be fluent in the language of that country.

Recruiting for these programs usually takes place during December and January each year. Visit your campus career services office to find out when J&J will visit your university.

Almost all of our short-assignment jobs for MBA and advanced-degree students are internships. Our co-op assignments are reserved for students working toward BS or BA degrees.

MBA or advanced-degree applicants must be authorized to work in the country where the internship is based and must be fluent in the language of that country.

Recruiting for internship programs usually takes place during December and January each year. Visit your campus career services office to find out when J&J will visit your university.

Internship assignments are normally from two to three months in length and usually take place during the months of June, July and August. We attempt to accommodate a student’s specific academic schedule when possible.

Each Johnson & Johnson company offers different housing options. Ask our recruiters about housing when you meet them at a campus information session or if you participate in an interview.

Assignment in these roles can vary across our companies and even among departments within the same company. Typically, internship or co-op assignments may include collecting critical data, analyzing information or research, completing projects, or creating new projects.

Co-op students will often have an opportunity to take a project from creation through implementation. Interns, because of the short-term nature of their assignments, may work on a more limited part of a full project. We’ll also provide a number of programmed activities that offer a broader perspective on our leadership principles, values, and longer-term business challenges.

We see successful internship and co-op employees as a valuable resource in our search for future leaders across our companies.

Recruiters and hiring managers within our companies expect many of the same things from internship and co-op employees as we do from full-time employees. We look for individuals who understand and align with our values and leadership principles.

We see successful internship and co-op employees as a valuable resource in our search for future leaders across our companies.

Visit our Student Opportunities page for more information.

Individual university policy will determine if students get course credit for an internship or co-op assignment within our companies.

Some schools have formal co-operative education programs in which students submit reports at the end of an assignment in order to qualify for credit. Other schools with less formal programs may review student requests for course credit on an individual basis.

Please check with your campus career services office or your academic advisor to determine your options.

Johnson & Johnson companies offer a wide range of enterprise leadership development programs (LDPs) as well as company-specific LDPs.

Visit careers.jnj.com/students for more specific information on the features and requirements for each of our programs.

You may address your cover letter to “To whom it may concern” or “Dear Sir/Madam”. As all inquiries are submitted online via our job application system, it is not necessary to include the address where the position is located.

For certain roles, we use automated tools to assist us in processing and evaluating job applications. These tools leverage complex algorithms and machine-learning technology to assist with the following operations.

These tools compare the information collected in connection with your application with the specific requirements and qualifications of the target role(s) in order to flag any missing qualifications and assign a ranking to your application. These rankings are then used to prioritize the review of applications and are visible to members of the recruiting team as one of several factors to consider in making decisions about whether to advance a candidate in the recruitment process.

Minimum requirements: We use automated tools to determine whether, based on the information you have provided to us, you meet the minimum requirements for a position. For example, if the job requires three years of experience as a software developer, these tools will analyze the selections you make in forms you submit through the Careers Sites and/or the words and textual patterns collected in connection with your application to determine whether this type of experience is present or not. In some cases, these automated tools may lead to the rejection of your application without any additional review by a member of our recruitment team.
Job match ranking: We use automated tools to assign a percentage value to your application that assesses how strong the fit is between your application and the requirements of the target role. Our tools may rely on several factors in assigning these percentages, which may vary per job. For example, for certain jobs specific practical experience may be of more relevance than certifications, for others it may be the other way around. Based on the analysis, our automated tools can provide a Johnson & Johnson recruiting employee with an overview of candidates that are potentially qualified for the relevant position. The Johnson & Johnson employee will then assess these recommendations and, based on our standard processes, move the candidate forward in the recruitment process.
