Job Description:

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • The Medical Director will lead the strategic development and execution of Medical Affairs plans aligned with regional and global frameworks to enhance product lifecycles, improve patient outcomes, and drive market growth.
  • They will establish impactful relationships with regulatory agencies, develop talent pipelines, and foster cross-functional collaboration to support strategic business objectives in a dynamic and matrix-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Grow Market Share through strategic insight and powerful execution Develop a strategy and execution plan that will ensure that local MAF is performed aligned to a regional strategy and global mentorship to improve the value and lifecycles of our products and give to the well-being of patients
  • Manages the design and implementation plans of the Medical Affairs program, including identification of critical paths, budget development and tracking of all projects.
  • Overall responsibility for MA strategic plans including a spectrum of activities such as publication of generated data, development of trustful and science-based interactions with KOLs, medical support to relevant marketing pre-launch, launch and post-launch activities, and cross-departmental support to other functions such as Market Access & Gov. Affairs, Communications.
  • Balance delivery of short-term results in the region without jeopardizing long-term strategic choices and results, and use insight to help shape the regional agenda
  • Continually assess systems and processes to see opportunities to harmonize, simplify and drive efficiencies
  • Make decisions based on more limited and less “real-time” data

External Relationships:

  • Externally represent J&J in the medical affairs domain: form effective relationships with regulatory agencies, businesses, media and customers

  • Advance J&J culture throughout the cluster, including regular visits to the different J&J sites
  • Drive successful execution of key regulatory events, e.g., compliance audits and implementation of any new or changed requirements
  • Build new relationships with governmental and regulatory agencies Ability to engage with governments and create joint partnerships to support clinical trials and date generation projects.

  • Establish strong, highly collaborative relationships with other J&J leaders, especially other functions to leverage capabilities to support business needs
  • Lead in a highly matrix environment; collaborate and influence peers to find win-win solution
  • Demonstrate ability to understand and appreciate the uniqueness of the market- act as the voice of the market to regional leaders
  • UNIQUE TO EMERGING MARKETS – Remain steady and positive in leading through VUCA (volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity). Ability to lead in greater ambiguity

  • Acquire and develop talent to strengthen future talent pipeline across all leadership levels to support market growth and business needs
  • Cascade MAF Strategy for the future that supports enterprise strategic direction
  • Engage and motivate the team to support a plan to achieve the business vision by driving ownership and accountability down through the organization
  • Translate global MAF strategy into local execution Build a culture that is not satisfied with the status quo by pursuing innovation and new market opportunities while ensuring alignment with enterprise

Minimum Qualification

  • Experience working within multinational companies especially in Emerging Markets with adhering high levels of compliance
  • Professional experience from the pharmaceutical business environment on the regional level
  • Strong leadership skills, ability to structure and further develop a team of people, retain motivation and infuse spirit relevant to the company culture, vision and business strategy
  • Positive attitude to change if needed, ability to challenge "status quo"
  • Excellent communication skills (oral, business writing, presenting and listening)
  • Proficient English knowledge of both spoken and written; Native local speaker is a plus
  • Pragmatism, availability, diplomatic, listening and relationship skills with strong analytical, communication, decision-making, and leadership skills and perseverance and capability of projects management
  • Ability to navigate and produce results in a global, matrix organization, strong cross-departmental support, interdisciplinary approach
