We are searching for the best talent for External Affairs Manager & Patients Advocacy Groups to be in Chile.

Reporting to the External Affairs Director for J&J Latin America South, the External Affairs & Patient Advocacy Groups Manager J&J Chile will be responsible for designing, coordinating and executing the External Affairs and Patient Advocacy strategy for Chile, helping to anticipate, interpret and influence the public policy, regulatory, institutional and innovation access environment in healthcare.

The role will strengthen J&J’s corporate reputation, build trusted relationships with key stakeholders across the healthcare ecosystem and promote initiatives that ethically, transparently and non-promotionally integrate the patient voice into relevant discussions for the Chilean healthcare system.

The candidate should combine strategic vision, influencing skills, knowledge of the Chilean political and healthcare environment, stakeholder management experience and a solid understanding of the compliance frameworks applicable to interactions with government officials, patient associations, industry chambers, scientific societies, civil society organizations and other external stakeholders.

All activities must be conducted in compliance with local legislation, industry standards, J&J internal policies, the principles of Our Credo and applicable standards of integrity, transparency and independence.

Purpose:

The role aims to position J&J as a trusted and constructive partner in the Chilean healthcare ecosystem, supporting public policy priorities, sustainable access to innovation, institutional strengthening and responsible collaboration with Patient Advocacy Groups (PAGs).

The role will also consolidate an institutional PAGs strategy that can also integrates the priorities defined by the MAF related to specific therapeutic areas, promoting educational, scientific, awareness, prevention, early detection, health literacy, system navigation and capacity-building initiatives, while always preserving the autonomy and editorial, institutional and financial independence of patient organizations.

· Develop and execute integrated External Affairs plans for Chile that anticipate regulatory, legislative, policy and access trends, aligned with J&J Innovative Medicine priorities and in coordination with Market Access, Medical Affairs, Communications, Regulatory Affairs, Legal, Healthcare Compliance, Commercial and regional teams.

You will be responsible for:

  • Map key trends in the Chilean healthcare environment, identify risks and opportunities for the company, and translate them into analysis, recommendations and action plans for internal teams and regional leadership.
  • Support Country Lead in their engagement with industry trade associations and other relevant organizations, providing external insights, strategic recommendations and input to advance institutional priorities and strengthen J&J’s positioning.
  • Design and execute the annual institutional Patient Advocacy strategy for Chile, acting as the internal focal point for PAGs interactions by aligning External Affairs and Medical Affairs priorities, integrating therapeutic area needs and budgets, mapping and prioritizing relevant PAGs, coordinating governance processes, and ensuring all engagements remain non-promotional and properly aligned.
  • External Affairs and Stakeholder Engagement Responsibilities: Build and maintain trusted, long-term and mutually beneficial relationships with authorities, legislators, industry associations, scientific societies, think tanks, civil society organizations, patient associations, caregivers, patient networks and relevant coalitions in Chile.· Represent J&J in forums, chambers, sector working groups, public events, seminars and external initiatives related to health policy, access to innovation and patients, within the frameworks approved by External Affairs, Legal and Healthcare Compliance.·
  • Operationalize collaboration opportunities with PAGs prioritized through the institutional strategy and through Medical Affairs plans for each therapeutic area, including education, awareness, prevention, early detection, health literacy, system navigation, generation of evidence on patient experience and organizational capacity building.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • University degree required; postgraduate studies in public policy, public health, international relations, law, communications, business administration or related fields will be highly valued.
  • Professionals with at least 3 years of experience in External Affairs, Government Affairs, Public Affairs, Patient Advocacy, public policy or related areas, ideally in healthcare, the pharmaceutical industry, medical devices, biotechnology or organizations within the healthcare ecosystem.·
  • Solid knowledge of the Chilean healthcare system, public policy-making processes, legislative and regulatory dynamics, access mechanisms, health technology assessment and key sector stakeholders.·
  • Demonstrated experience in institutional engagement with authorities, industry associations, civil society organizations, patient associations, opinion leaders and stakeholders across the Chilean healthcare ecosystem.·
  • Ability to develop high-quality executive materials, institutional positions, briefings, talking points and presentations in Spanish and English, adapted to internal and external audiences.·
  • Fluent written and spoken English.
