The Chief Compliance Officer Depuy Synthes will lead the global health care compliance team and the global Depuy Synthes compliance program, reporting to the Chief Operations Officer of Depuy Synthes.
The Chief Compliance Officer will lead the establishment and development of strategy, long-term planning and policies of health care compliance programs. This leader will ensure that the business understands and complies with applicable laws and regulations pertaining to the health care environment. The leader will drive business accountability for compliance by overseeing, follow-up and resolution of investigations. The leader will also report to the Global leadership team and to the Board of Directors of DePuy Synthes if, and when the company becomes a publicly traded company.
The Chief Compliance Officer Depuy Synthes serves as a key member of the senior leadership, with enterprise-wide responsibility for the design, oversight, and effectiveness of the Health Care Compliance program. The role provides independent, objective compliance leadership and is accountable for setting global compliance strategy and strategic direction that enables the business to achieve its objectives while operating in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards across diverse markets and risk environments.
The Chief Compliance Officer Depuy Synthes represents the organization externally with regulators, enforcement authorities, and industry groups, helping to shape industry standards and compliance expectations, and serving as a visible leader in advancing ethical business practices. Internally, the role ensures the independence, authority, and visibility of the compliance function, resolution of investigations; reinforces the message that compliance and integrity are core company priorities; and coordinates the resources, governance, and infrastructure required to implement and sustain an effective compliance program across business units and geographies.
In this capacity, the Chief Compliance Officer serves as a trusted advisor to senior management and the Board (or Board-level committee, if and when it becomes publicly traded company) on compliance, ethics, and risk matters, providing insight on emerging risks, regulatory trends, and mitigation strategies. The role is responsible for fostering a strong culture of compliance, driving accountability, and ensuring consistent, scalable program execution across regions with varying regulatory complexity, corruption risk, and maturity.
Responsibilities/Principal Duties:
Establish and deliver an effective compliance program that meets regulatory and government agency expectations in the areas of anti-corruption, anti-kickback, false claims act and all global, regional and national rules, regulations and industry requirements in the field of ethics, compliance and integrity
Lead the establishment and design of healthcare compliance programs. Ensure the compliance program effectively prevents and/or detects violations of law, regulations, policies, or the code of conduct and, if necessary, initiate corrective action.
Provide leadership in the conceptualization and implementation of health care compliance activities and policies.
Be responsible for the business' strategic long-term planning and initiatives related to health care compliance.
Establish appropriate healthcare compliance policies and guidelines.
Provide guidance, counsel, and technical advice to senior management related to health care compliance issues and embed compliance in business processes.
Build partnerships with other senior management to ensure that they lead the business in compliance with applicable compliance policies.
Ensure that affiliate companies understand and comply with applicable laws and regulations related to health care compliance.
Maintain business accountability for compliance through oversight, follow-up, and resolution of investigations generated by the compliance program. Also ensure consistency in the application of disciplinary action.
Accomplish results through subordinate managers who supervise department functions.
Regularly report to the Board on program effectiveness, key risks, investigations, and remediation.
Partner closely with Legal colleagues to provide integrated guidance on regulatory, compliance, and risk matters.
Build, lead, and develop a global team of compliance professionals, with responsibility for recruiting, developing, and retaining talent to ensure an effective and well-resourced compliance program
Qualifications:
College/ University degree required
Graduate preferred, qualified in Law (special preference), Finance, MBA, Engineer, Pharmacy
Extensive experience in health care and anti-corruption compliance at global level (required)
Experience managing multi-layered global teams (required)
Exceptional written and oral communication skills
Comfortable working with and interpreting data and working with digital tools
Exceptional business partnering skills
Results and solutions oriented, self-starter, decision-maker
Comfortable navigating grey zones, confidence and providing clear path forward
Proven track record interacting with senior executives and ability to influence senior leaders

$199,000.00 - $366,850.00Additional Description for Pay Transparency:
Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees are eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)).This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s long-term incentive program.
Subject to the terms of their respective policies and date of hire, employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:
Vacation –120 hours per calendar year
Sick time - 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Colorado –48 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington –56 hours per calendar year
Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays –13 days per calendar year
