Job Description:

Reporting to the Head of HEMA Surgery, Taiwan, the Senior Specialist HEMA role for Surgery partners cross-functionally to build and execute integrated market access strategies, leveraging health economics and value creation for the adoption and payment of Surgery MedTech innovation.

This role will:

  • Draft and finalise with senior HEMA support, all New Product Innovation (NPI) NHIA HTA applications; input and review by the Head of HEMA Taiwan, coordinate internal cross-functional team engagement, seek input and partnership on access strategy with Regional HEMA (RHEMA) and Taiwan’s commercial team.
  • Support with leadership from the Head of HEMA, Taiwan, direct engagement with the NHIA agency and other government application and assessment processes.
  • Update and inform RHEMA and local cross-functional teams on critical integrated market access requirements for the National Health Insurance Administration (NHIA) HTA agency to generate coded coverage reimbursement aligned to all Surgery technology and associated procedures.
  • Update with support from Head of HEMA TW to inform RHEMA and local cross-functional teams on mandatory evidence requirements to oblige Taiwan’s market access with payment from all payers, for Surgeon adoption of Surgery MedTech innovation aligned to patient treatment.
  • Support the Head of HEMA, Taiwan, collaborating with RHEMA and respective local cross-functional partners internally to execute economic and clinical real-world evidence (RWE) generation (e.g., retrospective EMR studies, time-and-motion studies, quality improvement analyses).
  • Partner with Taiwan Surgery commercial leaders to address local market hospital administrators, surgeons & surgical societies to gain insights that demonstrates Taiwan specific clinical, procedural and economic value of J&J MedTech Surgery products.
  • Update the Head of HEMA Taiwan for aligned projects only, to support their inform to RHEMA and Global HEMA, Global Clinical Research and R&D on Taiwan relevant research endpoints and health economic data to address NHIA HTA access and market adoption needs.
  • Build partnerships with local commercial teams seeking support from Head of HEMA TW and RHEMA to customise & build relevant economic tools to inform external stakeholders of J&J MedTech Surgery innovation value, aligned to global market access and pricing strategies.
  • Support evidence dissemination, with leadership from Head of HEMA in the development of customer-facing materials that support the value proposition, value creation, adoption and payment of J&J MedTech’s Surgery products in Taiwan.

Key Responsibilities Include

Supporting Taiwan’s “integrated” evidence strategy for optimising early access and reimbursement for new product technologies by leveraging evidence, R&D information, and clinician/surgeon expertise for HTA dossier compilation; prioritizing relevant data and analyses that support Taiwan’s access value proposition and stakeholder needs.


Collaborate with Head of HEMA TW for allocated New Product Innovation (NPI) projects to contribute to building value messages for the commercial teams to engage with KOLs as local cost analysis can support the technology value proposition.


Support Head of HEMA TW who will leverage and advise RHEMA Surgery to align RWE data analysis, including site selection, data collection, and summary collation as needed for Taiwan.


Draft initial customisation of Global and Regional evidence into Taiwan customer-facing materials (e.g., value summaries, cost-of-care analysis, hospital case studies) for all external stakeholders; namely hospital level Value Assessment bodies, hospital executive level and all payers.


Partner with Taiwan’s Marketing and Sales Teams to deliver consistent value messages supported by appropriate education, tools, and evidence.


Support the Head of HEMA Taiwan, Surgery on defining market access needs and reimbursement policy trends to support the evidentiary strategies and evidence generation aligned to MedTech adoption, payment, value creation and commercial success.
