Job Description:

DePuy Synthes is recruiting for a Director of Acquisitions & Divestitures, this hybrid position will be located in Rayhnam, MA (USA). Alternate Hybrid locations maybe considered at Raritan, NJ (USA); West Chester, PA (USA); Palm Beach Gardens, FL (USA); Raynham, MA (USA); Warsaw, IN (USA); Zuchwil, Switzerland or Loughbeg, Ringaskiddy Ireland.

Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopedics business to establish a standalone orthopedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may be required, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals. Should you accept this position, it is anticipated that, following conclusion of the transaction, you would be an employee of DePuy Synthes and your employment would be governed by DePuy Synthes employment processes, programs, policies, and benefit plans. In that case, details of any planned changes would be provided to you by DePuy Synthes at an appropriate time and subject to any necessary consultation processes.

Job Overview

The Director, A&D is a senior leadership role responsible for driving DePuy Synthes’ inorganic growth strategy through mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and strategic partnerships across the functional landscape of Supply Chain & Operations. Short to mid-term, this role will lead the global PMO for Supply Chain & Operations workstreams of the DePuy Synthes separation, working closely with business unit leaders and across operations and corporate functions to execute the separation process. This role has direct impact on shaping the future portfolio of the Orthopedics business and plays a critical role during a period of transformation as DePuy Synthes prepares to operate as a standalone company. The Director partners closely with executive leadership and cross‑functional stakeholders to ensure a structured and timely separation while establishing the operations approach to support a broader landscape of A&D transactions and supporting processes.

Key Responsibilities

Company Separation:

  • Lead program management for separation activities across the supply chain and operations functional landscape

  • Oversee program timelines and financials to achieve timely separation milestones meeting financial targets

  • Drive program governance, milestone tracking, risk management, and budget tracking to ensure a consistent approach across functional workstreams

  • Manage consolidated financial reconciliation of separation costs, partnering closely with Finance

  • Prepare and report out structured updates, dashboards, and leadership-ready communications summarizing risks, progress, and decision needs

  • Serve as central PMO interface to the J&J program for DPS Supply Chain & Operations

Other A&D Responsibilities:

  • Lead Supply Chain & Operations execution of other A&D transactions, including supporting opportunity identification, valuation, due diligence, deal structuring, negotiation, and closing.

  • Partner with Business Development to drive A&D strategy in alignment to enterprise and business‑unit growth priorities.

  • Develop and review complex financial models, valuations, and business cases to support transaction decisions.

  • Coordinate cross‑functional due diligence efforts across the relevant areas, including but not limited to, finance, legal, tax, quality, regulatory, R&D, manufacturing, and commercial teams.

  • Present transaction recommendations, risks, and value‑creation opportunities to executive leadership and governance forums.

  • Oversee relationships with external advisors where needed

  • Monitor market trends, competitive landscape, and emerging opportunities within orthopedics and adjacent healthcare sectors.

  • Develop, implement, and sustain fit-for-purpose A&D playbook to serve the Supply Chain & Operations function

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Finance, Business, Economics, Engineering, or related field).

  • MBA or other advanced degree preferred.

Experience and Skills

Required:

  • 10–12 years of progressive experience in strategic program / project management roles within healthcare, medical devices, or life sciences industries.

  • A&D leadership experience within operations, having played a leadership role in at least one major transaction

  • Strong expertise in financial modeling and business case development

Preferred:

  • Experience supporting A&D activity within a large, global organization.

  • Knowledge of orthopedic, medtech, or broader healthcare markets.

  • Experience with divestitures, joint ventures, or strategic partnerships.

  • Prior people leadership, mentoring, or matrix leadership experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence and partner with senior executives in a matrixed organization.

  • Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and executive‑level communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple transactions and priorities in a fast‑paced, highly regulated environment.

  • Language: English required; additional languages preferred.

  • Travel: Up to 25%, domestic and international.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :

$150,000.00 - $258,750.00

Additional Description for Pay Transparency:

Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees are eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)).



This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s long-term incentive program.



Subject to the terms of their respective policies and date of hire, employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:

Vacation –120 hours per calendar year

Sick time - 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Colorado –48 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington –56 hours per calendar year

Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays –13 days per calendar year

Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year

Parental Leave – 480 hours within one year of the birth/adoption/foster care of a child

Bereavement Leave – 240 hours for an immediate family member: 40 hours for an extended family member per calendar year

Caregiver Leave – 80 hours in a 52-week rolling period10 days

Volunteer Leave – 32 hours per calendar year

Military Spouse Time-Off – 80 hours per calendar year
