Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopaedics business to establish a standalone orthopaedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may be required, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals. Job Overview
The Classification Analyst plays a critical role in ensuring accurate and compliant job classification across the organization. This position supports business and HR partners by evaluating roles against global job frameworks, maintaining job architecture integrity, and enabling equitable pay and career structures. The role offers exposure to global HR processes, cross‑functional collaboration, and opportunities to contribute to consistency and transparency across DePuy Synthes’ workforce.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze and evaluate job roles to determine appropriate classification based on established job architecture, career levels, and internal guidelines.
Partner with HR Business Partners and business leaders to review new, changed, or evolving roles and provide classification recommendations.
Maintain accurate job documentation, including job descriptions, titles, levels, and related data in HR systems.
Ensure alignment with global job catalog standards and support consistency across functions and geographies.
Support audits, internal reviews, and data requests related to job architecture and classification.
Prepare analyses, summaries, and documentation to support decision‑making and governance processes.
Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in job classification processes and tools.
Apply Johnson & Johnson’s Credo and Leadership Imperatives in day‑to‑day work and collaboration.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Human Resources, Business Administration, Management, or a related field.
Experience and Skills:
Required:
2-4 years of relevant professional experience in HR, job evaluation, compensation, or a related analytical role.
Understanding of job classification, job architecture, or organizational design concepts.
Ability to interpret guidelines, policies, and frameworks and apply them consistently.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
Ability to work collaboratively in a cross‑functional and matrixed environment.
Preferred:
Experience supporting global or regional HR processes.
Exposure to compensation, rewards, or job evaluation methodologies.
Experience working with HR information systems or job architecture tools.
Ability to manage multiple requests and priorities in a structured manner.
Continuous improvement mindset and comfort working with data.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail.
Other:
Language: Proficiency in English required; Japanese proficiency preferred for local collaboration.
Travel: Limited travel may be required (generally less than 10%).
Certifications: HR‑related certifications are a plus but not required.
