We are searching for the best talent for a hybrid Manager, Pharmacy Clinical Operations located in Pittsburgh, PA.
Purpose:
The Manager, Pharmacy Clinical Operations, leads and oversees a team of clinical pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to ensure the safe, effective, and efficient delivery of pharmaceutical care. This role combines advanced clinical expertise with people leadership, operational oversight, and strategic collaboration to improve patient outcomes and support organizational goals.
Responsibilities:
Supervise pharmacy technicians, pharmacy interns, rotation students, pharmacy fellows, and clinical pharmacists during daily activities.
Assist in verifying prescription drug orders for accuracy and clinical appropriateness.
Communicates with medical providers’ offices for order clarification and coordination of care to ensure optimal therapeutic outcomes.
Coordinate with pharmacy programs to complete prescription and shipment tasks.
Communicate with patients regarding prescribed therapies to promote optimal patient outcomes.
Oversee drug inventory receival and reconciliation for Access Therapy Center non-commercial pharmacy.
Track operational metrics, prepare regular reports for management, and provide recommendations for workflow improvements and process enhancements.
Handle escalated patient concerns and logistical issues promptly, ensuring timely resolutions and maintaining patient satisfaction.
Manage the pharmacy schedule including the on-call program.
Assist with interviewing, hiring, onboarding and training for new or current employees.
Monitor team performance through key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics, conduct regular performance discussions, set performance goals, and ensure team compliance with policies and healthcare regulations (e.g. HIPAA).
Identify opportunities for process improvement and optimize resource utilization. Work with cross-functional teams to implement new strategies and best practices.
Participate in building and maintaining respectful, collaborative internal/external team relationships, exercising and encouraging positivity.
Participating in on-call emergency program.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Doctor of Pharmacy or Registered Pharmacist degree from an ACPE accredited institution
Active and unrestricted Pharmacist licensure for Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
Minimum of 6 years experience as a Clinical Pharmacist in a non-commercial pharmacy, specialty pharmacy, or retail pharmacy
Prior experience leading or supervising pharmacists and/or pharmacy technicians.
Proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team, while also maintaining accountability.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certified Specialty Pharmacist (CSP) certification
Active Pharmacist License – California
Ability to exercise independent judgment.
Ability to manage deliverables in a fast-paced environment.
Exceptional customer focus, collaboration, initiative, results-oriented, business solution-oriented capabilities
