Purpose:
The Senior Manager, Data Excellence is responsible for defining, governing, and continuously improving business data capabilities that enable high‑quality decision‑making across Surgery Supply Chain and Operations. This role serves as a strategic partner to business, digital, and transformation leaders to ensure data is accurate, trusted, standardized, and fit‑for‑purpose across end‑to‑end processes and platforms.
The role leads data excellence agendas across data governance, data quality, master data standards, analytics enablement, and transformation programs (e.g., ERP and advanced planning platforms). The Senior Manager plays a critical role in enabling scalable operating models, accelerating business outcomes, and embedding a culture of data accountability and continuous improvement.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
Data Strategy & Governance
- Define and drive the enterprise data excellence strategy aligned with business priorities, digital roadmaps, and J&J standards.
- Establish and govern data ownership, stewardship, and decision rights across domains (e.g., master data, transactional data, analytical datasets).
- Lead adoption of common data standards, definitions, and policies to enable consistency and comparability across regions, franchises, and systems.
Data Quality, Controls & Compliance
- Own and drive data quality frameworks, metrics, and issue management processes to ensure reliable, audit‑ready, and compliant data.
- Partner with Quality, IT, and Compliance teams to ensure alignment with GxP, SOX, privacy, and regulatory requirements.
- Proactively identify systemic data risks and lead sustainable corrective and preventive actions.
Business Enablement & Analytics
- Enable business teams with trusted data and insights by partnering closely with analytics, planning, finance, and operations functions.
- Translate business needs into data and insight requirements, ensuring analytical outputs are actionable and decision‑relevant.
- Champion data literacy and self‑service analytics adoption across the organization.
Transformation & Digital Programs
- Serve as the data excellence lead for large‑scale transformation initiatives (e.g., ERP, S/4HANA, planning platforms, digital tools).
- Ensure data readiness across design, build, testing, migration, and deployment phases.
- Drive cross‑functional alignment across business, IT, system integrators, and deployment teams to achieve integrated, end‑to‑end solutions.
Operating Model & Capability Building
- Design and evolve scalable data operating models, including global‑local ways of working and governance forums.
- Lead, coach, and develop data excellence talent, fostering strong functional capabilities and a culture of accountability.
- Influence without authority in a complex, matrixed organization.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Supply Chain, Business, or related field.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in data management, analytics, digital enablement, or business excellence within a complex enterprise environment.
- 5+ years of People Management Experience
- Proven leadership in data governance, data quality, or enterprise transformation initiatives.
- Strong ability to operate across business and technology stakeholders in a matrixed organization.
- Demonstrated experience influencing senior leaders and driving change without direct authority.
- Experience with ERP and analytics ecosystems (e.g., SAP S/4HANA, planning systems, data platforms).
- Exposure to regulated environments (MedTech, Pharma, Consumer).
- Advanced degree or relevant certifications in data, analytics, or process excellence.
Travel on the Job:
Up to 30% travel may be required. (Domestic / International)

$122,000.00 - $212,750.00Additional Description for Pay Transparency:
Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees are eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)).Subject to the terms of their respective policies and date of hire, employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:
Vacation –120 hours per calendar year
Sick time - 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Colorado –48 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington –56 hours per calendar year
Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays –13 days per calendar year
Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
Parental Leave – 480 hours within one year of the birth/adoption/foster care of a child
Bereavement Leave – 240 hours for an immediate family member: 40 hours for an extended family member per calendar year
Caregiver Leave – 80 hours in a 52-week rolling period10 days
Volunteer Leave – 32 hours per calendar year
Military Spouse Time-Off – 80 hours per calendar year
