We are searching for the best talent for a Development Engineer, US Orthopedics. The preference is to be based at the Warsaw, IN campus.
Purpose: the Development Engineer would suit an individual looking to further their career as an Engineer in an R&D role within the Medical Devices sector. You will have the opportunity to work with a diverse range of products in a dynamic, fast paced environment, in a role that has a direct impact on the customers and patients, This role is suited to an individual with Product Development experience as it includes all elements of the product development lifecycle for medical devices.
You will be responsible for:
- Design inputs and outputs management, materials selection and biocompatibility, risk management, and verification & validation activities.
- Other typical responsibilities include supporting product testing with protocol and test method development.
- A high level of teamwork across multiple functions and geographies will be required. Proven analytical problem solving and decision-making skills are needed, alongside effective collaboration at all levels within the business.
- Support the development of multiple new product codes with differing technology across external supply base.
- Collaborate with the design team to provide DFX (manufacturing, assembly, and cost) input and enable translation of product design inputs to product and process outputs.
- Development and qualification of complex tolerance analysis for product assemblies.
- Process characterizations, DOE's, and optimizations using statistical techniques.
Qualifications / Requirements:
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required , in Biomedical Engineering, or mechanical in a relevant Engineering subject or similar .
- A minimum of 2 years work experience in a Product Development role is required.
- Engineering design, development and analysis skills.
- Strong project management and communication skills with a proven track record of leading a variety of development projects through to completion is desirable for the role.
- Expertise in the delivery of design history file generation and associated documentation such as technical reports, test reports and risk management.
- Preferred:
- Applied Process Excellence/ Design Excellence, LEAN and Value Engineering experience, formal Green Belt/Black Belt Certification is an advantage.
- Analytical simulation skills with practical use of Matlab or Ansys software being advantageous.
- Own the resolution of complex engineering and manufacturing problems utilizing advanced CAD techniques, rapid and conventional prototyping, and other available technologies.
- Experience working in new product development projects and partnering with design teams
- This position may require up to 10% travel both domestic and international.
