Electrophysiology jobs at J&J: 4 insights from a recruiter
Electrophysiology Clinical Account Specialists at J&J are technology experts who support electrophysiologists during cardiac ablation procedures. They help electrophysiologists visualize and treat arrhythmias with advanced cardiac mapping systems, working at the intersection of engineering and patient care.
But what does it take to effectively launch an electrophysiology career?
Tara D., Head of Talent Acquisition for MedTech Cardiovascular, shares what early-in-career candidates should know about Clinical Account Specialist jobs at J&J.
1. No electrophysiology experience required—just the right technical foundation
You won't necessarily need any prior cardiology or electrophysiology experience to become an electrophysiology Clinical Account Specialist at J&J.
However, you will need the ability to learn complex technology and partner effectively with clinical teams.
"We're really focused on building the electrophysiology workforce of the future, so we often hire students right out of college who have engineering and biomedical engineering backgrounds," Tara says. "Our Associate Clinical Account Specialist Program is a paid, six-to-nine-month training pathway—and by the end of it, you're working alongside electrophysiologists during live cases."
She continues, "It's an incredible launch pad for your career. It can take you anywhere."
2. You're entering a high-growth field
Electrophysiology is one of the fastest-growing segments within medtech, driven by massive unmet need.
Atrial fibrillation (AFib), for example, impacts over 50 million people worldwide, yet fewer than 5% of them receive ablation treatment.
"You know you're growing your career in a growing field where there'll be significant investment, continuous innovation and opportunities for real-world impact at J&J," Tara says. "I think that whole combination is compelling."
3. You'll train on industry-standard technology
J&J developed the first real-time 3D cardiac mapping system, and for more than 30 years, we've been the global market leader in the science and technology of cardiac arrhythmia treatment.
"The CARTO™ 3 System has been the cornerstone of catheter ablation workflows for over 16 years—and learning on industry-standard technology matters in terms of your career growth," Tara says.
4. You'll find opportunities to join us today
"Clinical Account Specialists are critical partners to electrophysiologists during life-changing procedures," Tara observes. "By ensuring that lab teams are up to speed on the latest technology, that they know how to use it confidently and correctly, you're contributing to better patient outcomes."
