Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is currently seeking an Associate Director, R&D Data Science & Digital Health – Immunology Real World Evidence to join our Data Science and Digital Health team (DSDH) and work at one of our sites in either Spring House, PA, Cambridge, MA, Titusville, NJ, or Raritan, NJ (no fully remote option available).

The Associate Director, R&D Data Science & Digital Health (DSDH), Immunology Real‑World Evidence (RWE), is an individual contributor responsible for delivering complex data science and real‑world evidence strategies in support of Immunology research and development programs. The role applies advanced real-world methodologies to generate insights that inform clinical development, and scientific decision‑making both internal and regulatory.

Operating with a high degree of autonomy within a defined scope, the Associate Director partners closely with cross‑functional teams to translate disease and therapeutic area priorities into actionable research questions while aligning with established functional strategies and governance frameworks.


Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the execution of real‑world and digital health evidence plans aligned with Immunology disease and therapeutic area objectives.
  • Lead defined evidence generation workstreams supporting clinical development programs, including identifying evidence gaps, , patient characterization and subgroup identification, novel endpoint exploration and validation, asset differentiation, and comparative efficacy and effectiveness studies.
  • Apply data science and statistical methodologies to real-world data sources to address prioritized scientific and development questions.
  • Collaborate with Disease Area Strongholds, Compound Development Teams, and cross‑functional partners to ensure deliverables meet program evidence needs and timelines.
  • Execute end‑to‑end project activities, including data fit-for-purpose assessment and validation, protocol development, results documentation and interpretation, and stakeholder management throughout the project life cycle.
  • Serve as a technical subject‑matter expert within cross‑functional teams, providing sound methodological recommendations to support program decision‑making.
  • Prepare and deliver analytical summaries, presentations, and written materials for internal stakeholders and governance forums.
  • Contribute to scientific manuscripts, abstracts, and internal knowledge‑sharing activities based on clinical trial and real‑world analyses.
  • Support external scientific collaborations by providing real-world evidence expertise and contributing to joint project deliverables.
  • Participate in cross‑functional initiatives that enhance data science, digital health, and real‑world evidence capabilities across the organization.


Required Qualifications

  • PhD, PharmD, MD, or equivalent advanced degree in statistics, bioinformatics, epidemiology, computational biology, data science, or related quantitative discipline.
    (Candidates with a Master’s degree and substantial relevant experience may be considered.)
  • Demonstrated experience applying data science, or real‑world evidence methods within pharmaceutical R&D, healthcare analytics, consulting, or a related professional field.
  • Proven ability to work effectively within matrixed, cross‑functional teams.
  • Experience working with real-world data sources such as electronic health records, administrative claims, registries, or secondary data.
  • Strong stakeholder management, analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting Immunology or related therapeutic area programs.
  • Hands‑on delivery of research projects using advanced statistical methods, predictive modeling, or machine learning.
  • Experience contributing to scientific publications, abstracts, or regulatory‑supporting analyses.

This position will be located at one of our campuses in either Spring House PA, Cambridge MA, Titusville NJ, or Raritan NJ (no fully remote option available). Occasional travel for cross‑functional workshops, design sessions, and team meetings may be required.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $137,000 to $235,750. The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis. Employees and/or eligible dependents may be eligible to participate in the following Company sponsored employee benefit programs: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, business accident insurance, and group legal insurance. Employees may be eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)).

Employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:
Vacation – up to 120 hours per calendar year
Sick time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays – up to 13 days per calendar year of Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
