About the Role
The Sales & Marketing Line Manager - Oncology will be responsible for leading and executing the integrated commercial and marketing strategy for the oncology portfolio, ensuring alignment with short-, mid-, and long-term business objectives.
This role combines strong strategic marketing leadership with sales execution excellence, leading a team and driving performance through collaboration, data-driven decisions, and cross-functional alignment. The position requires a high level of people leadership, as well as deep expertise in specialty markets within the pharmaceutical or medical devices industry.
Key Responsibilities
1. Sales Strategy and Planning
Define and execute the commercial strategy aligned with business objectives.
Develop and manage sales forecasts, territory plans, and customer prioritization.
Translate strategy into clear, actionable plans for the sales team, ensuring disciplined execution.
Identify growth opportunities, risks, and gaps between demand generation and sales conversion.
2. Marketing & Brand Leadership
Lead the strategic and tactical brand plan for the oncology portfolio in collaboration with cross-functional teams (Medical, Access, PSP, Commercial Excellence, etc.).
Ensure alignment of all promotional materials and initiatives with the value proposition, scientific strategy, and compliance standards.
Drive sales marketing initiatives to enhance field execution and customer engagement.
Utilize market research, competitive insights, and field feedback to continuously refine strategies.
3. Sales Force Leadership and Team Management
Lead, coach, and develop the sales team, fostering an inclusive, high-performance culture.
Provide continuous feedback, performance management, and development plans.
Identify performance gaps and implement targeted action plans.
Build a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
4. Talent Development
Act as a mentor and coach to strengthen both professional and leadership capabilities.
Develop key competencies including strategic thinking, customer focus, and execution excellence.
Build succession plans and contribute to a strong internal talent pipeline.
5. Performance & KPI Management
Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to sales, execution, and engagement.
Analyze data and translate insights into actionable business decisions.
Communicate performance, risks, and opportunities to senior leadership.
6. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Compliance
Partner closely with Marketing, Medical, Market Access, and other stakeholders to ensure an integrated strategy.
Ensure strict adherence to compliance policies, ethical standards, and local regulations.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree required (Business, Marketing, Life Sciences, or related field).
Experience: Minimum 8 years of relevant experience.
Required: Strong experience in marketing within the pharmaceutical or medical devices industry, preferably in high specialty/oncology markets.
Desirable: Previous experience in sales roles within pharma.
Proven experience in strategic planning, forecasting, performance management, and commercial execution.
Strong understanding of healthcare systems and stakeholder management (HCPs, institutions).
