We are searching for the best talent for Principle Scientist Discovery & Translation INTO.

We are seeking for highly motivated Principal Scientist to complement our Discovery team in Beerse, Belgium. The successful candidate will join a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team of scientists in exploratory immuno-oncology, playing a key role in the evaluation and understanding of new drug concepts in vitro and in vivo. They will work on new target discovery for cancer therapy to support and expand the portfolio. The role requires project leadership experience as well as support of lab-based experiments to support assay development and the supervision of lab-based staff. In addition, responsibilities include designing, implementing, monitoring and analyzing experimental work conducted internally or externally at contract research organizations. The role will also require the analysis and presentation of the output of this work to different teams within INTO to support the clinical progression of targets.

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading efforts to identify, validate and generate data packages to bring novel targets into the discovery portfolio – Leading Biology team in preparation for portfolio-entry.
  • Maintaining comprehensive understanding of target biology to enable the drug discovery process.
  • (Co-) Leading the project core team by defining strategy, identifying risks and mitigations and presenting to governance bodies - Act as matrix leader in cross-functional partnership with DPDS to ensure project progression.
  • Developing, designing and coordinating novel research to support target validation of current and future targets.
  • Interacting with preclinical and clinical teams, development and commercial teams in presenting and explaining the impact of the preclinical data packages driving project strategy.
  • Leading collaborations with academic investigators including advising on experimentation, analysis of results and conducting complementary experimentation.
  • Ensuring compliance to applicable scientific, quality and regulatory standards.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • PhD degree in Life Sciences (Pharmacology, Immunology or Oncology) with a minimum of 5 to 7 years of relevant laboratory-based experience (tumor-inflammation) in industry/biotech or an academic setting is required.
  • Demonstrated high level of scientific competence across the immune-oncology field and the drug discovery process, with the ability to interpret data and drive project strategy.
  • Established leadership in coordinating across a multi-functional team with the ability to interact effectively with people. Ability to influence stakeholders and secure alignment in a matrix environment without direct line authority
  • Outstanding communication skills with proven adaptability to constantly evolving project strategies and priorities.
  • Decisive, with the ability to make prompt, well-reasoned decisions and to provide strong follow-through and organizational oversight to ensure team and organizational alignment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with proven competence in conflict management and negotiation.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is:

€79,800.00 - €137,770.00
