DePuy Synthes is recruiting for a Strategic Account Manager, located in Norderstedt, Germany.

Job Title Strategic Account Manager (m/f/d) — DePuy Synthes Germany

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic account plans to drive sustainable growth, market share and product adoption across assigned key accounts (e.g., hospitals, health systems and strategic customers).

  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior clinical, procurement and hospital management stakeholders and key opinion leaders.

  • Lead cross‑functional account teams (Sales, Clinical Affairs, Marketing, Service, Supply Chain, Legal/Compliance) to deliver bespoke solutions and ensure flawless execution.

  • Identify growth opportunities (portfolio expansion, new product introductions, service offerings) and translate them into actionable commercial initiatives.

  • Own account commercial negotiations, tender/RFP participation and contract management in coordination with Legal and Commercial Operations.

  • Create demand forecasts, account revenue plans and ensure accurate pipeline management in CRM systems.

  • Monitor account performance via KPIs and business reviews; prepare and present strategic account updates and business cases to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Drive clinical adoption through partnership with clinical education teams—support surgeon training, case support and clinical evidence generation.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, legal and company policies in all customer interactions and commercial activities.

  • Represent DePuy Synthes at customer events, conferences and national meetings as required.

  • Comfortable in a try‑and‑learn culture—testing ideas quickly, learning from feedback, and improving through iteration.

Experience & functional expertise

  • Several years of experience (approx. 5+ years) in strategic account management, key account management or commercial leadership within orthopaedics, medical devices or a closely related healthcare sector.

  • Proven track record of driving revenue growth with large hospital accounts or health systems.

  • Experience with tender/RFP processes, contract negotiations and stakeholder mapping.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross‑functional teams and influence senior stakeholders.

  • Analytical mindset and strong commercial acumen; able to translate market insights into business plans.

Working style & skills

  • Structured, data‑driven and goal‑oriented working style.

  • Excellent presentation and communication skills; confident presenting to C‑level and clinical audiences.

  • Confident user of MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint; experience with CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce) is an advantage.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage complex, multi‑stakeholder projects.

Qualifications & role requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Life Sciences, Healthcare Management or related field.

  • Fluent in German and English (both written and spoken).

  • Willingness to travel regularly within Germany and occasionally internationally.

  • Relevant clinical or sales training and experience in the medical device/orthopaedic environment is beneficial.

  • Clean compliance record and adherence to industry regulations (e.g., interactions with healthcare professionals).

The anticipated base pay range for this position is:

€90,400.00 - €156,975.00

Benefits:

In addition to base pay, we offer the following benefits*: an annual bonus with set target (% of pay) depending on pay grade / location, where the actual amount is based on the employees’ and companies’ performance of the previous calendar year, or sales commissions.
