We are searching for the best talent for a Senior Scientist, Mass Spectrometry to be located in Spring House, PA.

Purpose: The Senior Scientist, Mass Spectrometry (MS) will join the Biophysics team within the Biologics Discovery (BD) organization. In this role, you will serve as a scientific leader and subject matter expert in advanced structural mass spectrometry, driving strategy, innovation, and application of MS based technologies to support discovery and optimization of protein therapeutics, including multispecific antibodies and antibody–drug conjugates (ADCs).

The preferred candidate will have demonstrated scientific expertise in applying advanced mass spectrometry approaches to accelerate characterization of protein therapeutics.

You will be responsible for:

  • Providing scientific leadership for protein mass spectrometry capabilities supporting biologics discovery programs.
  • Driving structure–function analyses and mechanistic understanding of target binding to inform lead selection, engineering, and optimization decisions.
  • Designing, interpreting, and integrating advanced MS experiments (intact MS, peptide mapping, HDX-MS) to support complex discovery and developability questions.
  • Championing the development, qualification, and implementation of new analytical technologies, software, and workflows to improve throughput, data quality, and scalability.
  • Acting as a technical advisor to project teams, collaborating closely with biophysics, protein engineering, protein expression, computational biology, and other discovery functions.
  • Representing the function through internal scientific reviews, governance forums, and external publications or presentations, maintaining a strong scientific presence for the organization.

Qualifications/Requirements

Education:

  • PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biophysics, or a related scientific field with 2+ years of relevant experience; or a Master's degree with 5+ years; or a Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of directly applicable experience in mass spectrometry-based protein characterization is required.

Experience and Skills:

Required:

  • Experience in LC/MS, LC/MS/MS, intact protein MS, and peptide mapping for biologic characterization is required.
  • Expertise in structural mass spectrometry strategies, (i.e., HDX-MS, and/or Footprinting MS, etc.) with a demonstrated ability to apply the technique to complex biologics and discovery stage questions is required.
  • Experience in discovery/development of therapeutic antibodies is required.
  • Strong proficiency with mass spectrometry data analysis software (e.g., Protein Metrics, HD Examiner, Proteome Discoverer) and high-quality scientific reporting is required.
  • Ability to communicate complex data and partner effectively in highly matrixed environments is required.

Preferred:

  • Experience with Trajan HDX–Thermo Orbitrap MS platforms is preferred.
  • Hands on expertise in chemical cross linking and/or protein footprinting MS approaches is preferred.
  • Strong publication and presentation record in structural MS or protein biophysics is preferred.
