Job Description:

DePuy Synthes is recruiting for a(n) Director, Solution Architect Commercial; this Hybrid position will be in Raynham, MA (USA). Alternate Hybrid locations may be considered at Raritan, NJ (USA), West Chester, PA (USA), Warsaw, IN (USA), or Palm Beach Gardens, FL (USA).

Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopedics business to establish a standalone orthopedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may be required, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals. Should you accept this position, it is anticipated that, following conclusion of the transaction, you would be an employee of DePuy Synthes and your employment would be governed by DePuy Synthes employment processes, programs, policies, and benefit plans. In that case, details of any planned changes would be provided to you by DePuy Synthes at an appropriate time and subject to any necessary consultation processes.

Job Overview:

This role provides enterprise‑level solution architecture leadership for commercial platforms and digital capabilities that enable sales, marketing, customer engagement, and analytics across DePuy Synthes and reports into the DePuy Synthes Technology organization. The Director, Solution Architect Commercial partners closely with Commercial, IT, and external partners to design scalable, secure, and interoperable solutions that directly support revenue growth and customer experience. This is an opportunity to shape the future commercial technology landscape of a leading orthopedics organization while influencing enterprise‑wide architecture standards and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and evolution of end‑to‑end solution architectures supporting commercial technology platforms, including CRM, customer engagement, digital experience platforms, marketing automation, and analytics solutions.

  • Serve as a senior technical authority for solution design, ensuring compatibility, interoperability, stability, and usability across multiple systems and platforms.

  • Translate commercial business strategies and requirements into scalable, secure, and compliant architecture blueprints aligned with enterprise standards.

  • Advise senior leadership on opportunities to improve commercial technology capabilities through modernization, integration, and adoption of emerging technologies.

  • Drive architectural governance by defining and enforcing architecture principles, design patterns, and best practices across commercial initiatives.

  • Lead and influence cross‑functional teams through matrix leadership, mentoring architects and engineers to build depth of architectural capability.

  • Evaluate solution options, trade‑offs, risks, and costs to recommend optimal designs that balance business value, performance, and long‑term sustainability.

  • Develop and publish architectural documentation, technical reports, and design artifacts for internal stakeholders.

  • Embed Johnson & Johnson’s Credo and Leadership Imperatives into architectural decisions and ways of working.

  • Lead the application of AI, advanced analytics, and automation to modernize commercial platforms, enhancing customer engagement, pricing and revenue optimization, and data‑driven decision‑making while driving scalable and compliant commercial execution across sales, marketing, and customer operations.

Qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Master’s degree preferred (e.g., Computer Science, Information Systems, or MBA with technology focus).

Experience and Skills:

Required:

  • 10–12 years of experience in solution architecture, enterprise architecture, or large‑scale systems design.

  • Proven experience designing and delivering complex, multi‑system technology solutions in a regulated enterprise environment.

  • Strong background in commercial technology platforms (e.g., CRM, digital experience platforms, marketing automation, customer engagement, data and analytics, integrations).

  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and translate business strategy into technical architecture.

  • Broad and deep technical knowledge across application, integration, data, and infrastructure architectures.

  • Experience providing functional or matrix leadership, mentoring senior technical talent.

Preferred:

  • Experience supporting global commercial organizations within healthcare, medical devices, or life sciences.

  • Hands‑on experience with cloud‑based architectures, API‑led integration, and modern digital platforms.

  • Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks and formal design methodologies.

  • Experience driving technology innovation aligned to commercial growth objectives.

  • Strong executive communication and technical storytelling skills.

Other:

  • Language: English (required).

  • Travel: Up to ~10–20%, primarily domestic, with limited international travel as needed.

  • Certifications: Architecture or cloud certifications (e.g., TOGAF, AWS, Azure) preferred.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :

$150,000.00 - $258,750.00

Additional Description for Pay Transparency:

Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees are eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)).



This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s long-term incentive program.



Subject to the terms of their respective policies and date of hire, employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:

Vacation –120 hours per calendar year

Sick time - 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Colorado –48 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington –56 hours per calendar year

Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays –13 days per calendar year

Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year

Parental Leave – 480 hours within one year of the birth/adoption/foster care of a child

Bereavement Leave – 240 hours for an immediate family member: 40 hours for an extended family member per calendar year

Caregiver Leave – 80 hours in a 52-week rolling period10 days

Volunteer Leave – 32 hours per calendar year

Military Spouse Time-Off – 80 hours per calendar year
