We are searching for the best talent for a Senior Scientist, Translational ADME - Translational PK/PD & Investigative Toxicology to be located in Spring House, PA.

An internal pre-identified candidate for consideration has been identified. However, all applications will be considered.

Purpose: The Department of Translational PK (Pharmacokinetics)/PD (Pharmacodynamics) and Investigative Toxicology (TPPIT) within Johnson & Johnson is seeking a Senior Scientist with expertise in the ADME (absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion) characterization of antibody drug conjugates (ADCs). The successful candidate will join a global team of dedicated and passionate scientists. You will be member of an inspiring environment where science, innovation and collaboration are key to success.

The Senior Scientist will investigate the ADME properties, mechanisms and translational relevance of bystander effect of antibody–drug conjugates (ADCs). This role will focus on developing and applying next‑generation in vitro and microphysiological models to better understand how ADC payload properties, cellular uptake, and transport processes drive tumor and normal‑tissue responses.

You will be responsible for:

  • Addressing key questions in the ADC field, including:
    • How ADC payloads are released, transported, and taken up by targeted and antigen negative cells.
    • The role of payload permeability in mediating bystander killing.
    • Differences in bystander potential across classes of cytotoxic payloads.
    • How advanced in vitro systems can better predict clinical efficacy and toxicity.
  • Designing and implementing hypothesis‑driven in vitro studies to investigate ADC cytotoxicity and bystander effect.
  • Developing and applying co‑culture assays, 3D tumor models, and microphysiological systems (with and without flow).
  • Quantifying cellular uptake, payload exposure, and cytotoxic responses in antigen‑positive and antigen‑negative cells.
  • Supporting the quantitative and mechanistic interpretation of experimental data.
  • Integrating findings with existing preclinical and translational datasets.
  • Communicating results through internal presentations, external conferences, and peer‑reviewed publications.

Qualifications/Requirements

Education:

  • A PhD in Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biomedical or Chemical Engineering, Chemical Biology, Cell Biology, or a related field with 2+ years of experience is required.

Experience and Skills:

Required:

  • Strong experimental background in cell‑based assays, drug response measurements, and mechanistic in vitro studies is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to design experiments, analyze data, and interpret results independently is required.
  • Scientific curiosity and motivation to solve complex translational problems is required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.

Preferred:

  • A minimum of 1 year of post-doctoral experience in a related research field is preferred.
  • Experience with advanced imaging and data analysis techniques is preferred.
  • Experience with antibody‑drug conjugates, cytotoxic payloads, or cancer pharmacology is preferred.
  • Familiarity with cell culture systems, spheroids, organoids, or microphysiological models is preferred.
  • Understanding of pharmacokinetics, drug transport, and exposure–response relationships is preferred.
  • Interest in quantitative or model‑informed approaches to drug development is preferred.
