Position Title: HR Digital, Data & Operations Analyst

Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopedics business to establish a standalone orthopedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may be required, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals. Job Overview:

This role sits within the HR Operations pillar and is responsible for the accurate, timely execution of employee data and lifecycle transactions. The HR Digital, Data & Operations Analyst supports Workday Data Management, Exit Management, and Global Data Operations, ensuring high data quality and a consistent employee experience.

This is an execution‑heavy role ideal for someone who is detail‑oriented, process‑driven, and interested in building deep expertise in HR operations and Workday‑based data management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute Workday employee data transactions, including job changes, personal data updates, and mass data uploads, in accordance with standard operating procedures.

  • Support exit management activities, including processing employee separations, validating documentation, and ensuring timely system updates.

  • Perform day‑to‑day Global Data Operations (GDO) tasks with a strong focus on data accuracy, completeness, and compliance.

  • Conduct data quality checks and validations; identify and escalate discrepancies or errors following defined controls.

  • Respond to HR service requests and inquiries within established SLAs, providing clear and professional communication.

  • Maintain process documentation and follow standard work instructions to ensure consistent execution.

  • Closely partner with Payroll and support audits, reporting requests, and compliance reviews by providing accurate data and transaction records.

  • Identify opportunities for operational improvements and escalate recommendations to senior team members.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Human Resources, Business Administration, Information Systems, or related field).

  • HR‑related coursework or certification preferred.

Experience and Skills

Required:

  • 1-3 years of experience in HR Operations, HR Shared Services, data administration, or a related operational role.

  • Experience executing transactions in Workday or a comparable HRIS platform.

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage repetitive, high‑volume transactional work accurately.

  • Basic understanding of employee lifecycle processes (hire, job change, exit).

  • Ability to follow defined procedures, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a team‑based environment.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic data analysis.

Preferred:

  • Prior experience supporting mass data uploads or data correction activities.

  • Exposure to global or regional HR operations environments.

  • Experience working in a shared services or operations hub model.

  • Familiarity with HR data privacy, controls, or audit requirements.

  • Interest in continuous improvement and process optimization.

Other:

  • Language: Proficiency in English required.

  • Travel: Minimal; generally less than 10%.

  • Certifications: Workday or HR Operations certifications preferred but not required.

Position Summary

The HR Digital, Data & Operations Analyst is responsible for delivering timely, accurate, and compliant payroll by being a subject matter expert (SME) to assigned complex payroll processes for designated countries/regions, ensuring adherence to global standards, statutory requirements, internal controls, and service-level commitments. The Senior Analyst will drive continuous improvement, mentor analysts, support audit and system enhancements, and partner with cross‑functional teams to improve accuracy, efficiency, and payroll experience. The Senior Analyst will work closely with the Payroll Senior Team Lead in planning and managing operational and project deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll Operations & Administration

Process and validate complex payroll transactions, reports, and requests for assigned countries/regions, in alignment with global standards and country-specific requirements.

Prepare, reconcile, and review payroll reports; validate statutory payments and third-party disbursements as applicable.

Investigate, resolve and document complex payroll issues and employee inquiries. Support escalations and engage with agencies or vendors as needed.

Monitor payroll mailboxes and manage cases and inquiries through service management tools.

Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors.

Compliance, Controls & Documentation

Execute tasks in compliance with SOX requirements, internal controls, audit procedures, and country legislation.

Lead/support audits by supplying requested records and evidence in a timely manner.

Ensure regular review and update of payroll documentation including SOPs, process guides, work instructions.

Uphold confidentiality and ensure adherence to data privacy regulations.

Continuous Improvement, System Testing, Projects

Identify and lead continuous improvement opportunities for process optimization, automation, and standardization.

Analyze impact of process and system changes. Lead/support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and verification of system changes, releases, and vendor/system upgrades.

Collaborate with internal partners (HR, Finance, IT) and third-party payroll providers on operational and project-related activities

Leadership & Team Support

Mentor and coach Payroll Analysts and junior team members.

Assist Senior Team Lead in task and resource planning, project execution, and daily operations.

Support resource onboarding and knowledge transfer activities.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, HR, finance, accounting, or related field

  • Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience in HR or finance/payroll operations, preferably in a shared services or multinational environment.

  • 1–2 years of leadership, mentoring, or coaching experience.

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of payroll processing concepts and statutory payroll requirements

  • Proficiency with payroll and HR systems (SAP and/or Workday preferred; ADP and other payroll systems advantageous).

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, basic macros) and common Microsoft Office tools. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

  • Experience with case management or ticketing tools.

  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and work independently with minimal supervision.

  • High degree of confidentiality and adherence to data privacy and internal controls.

  • Customer-focused with strong stakeholder management skills.

  • Collaborative team player who builds effective working relationships.

  • Adaptable to multiple cultures and cross-functional interactions.
