Job Description:

The Senior Supervisor – Supplier Engineering leads a team of Supplier Engineers responsible for managing supplier performance, product quality, and manufacturing scalability within the Electronics category.

This role serves as a primary technical and strategic interface with key suppliers, driving supplier qualification, process optimization, and lifecycle management initiatives. The position ensures execution excellence across product development and sustaining programs while fostering strong supplier partnerships and advancing “Quality at the Source.”

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Supplier Engineers to deliver strong technical execution and business results
  • Conduct performance management including goal setting (“What” and “How”), feedback, and development planning
  • Foster an inclusive, high-performing team culture aligned with Leadership Imperatives
  • Act as escalation point for complex technical and supplier issues
  • Own strategic relationships with key suppliers for complex components, assemblies, and finished goods
  • Define and execute supplier strategies including second sourcing, risk mitigation, and long-term capability development
  • Establish and drive “Quality at the Source” programs with critical suppliers
  • Provide input into sourcing decisions and supplier capability assessments
  • Oversee supplier governance processes including:
    • Process validations (IQ/OQ/PQ)
    • Failure investigations and corrective actions
    • Capacity expansion and obsolescence management
  • Ensure milestone tracking, execution accountability, and reporting to stakeholders
  • Guide supplier engineering team in manufacturing process analysis and optimization
  • Drive yield improvement, cost reduction, and process capability enhancement initiatives
  • Ensure execution of:
    • FMEA-based risk assessments
    • Process validation strategies (MVP, IQ/OQ/PQ)
    • Measurement system evaluations (e.g., Gauge R&R)
    • Provide technical expertise in electronics, PCBAs, injection molding, and extrusion
  • Partner with R&D to incorporate Design for Excellence (DFx) principles (DFM/DFT)
  • Represent supplier capabilities and constraints during design and development phases
  • Align with Quality, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain to ensure robust execution
  • Support product lifecycle changes and supplier qualification activities
  • Manage team workload, priorities, and resource allocation
  • Ensure consistent execution of Supplier Engineering processes and tools
  • Drive continuous improvement of processes, governance, and supplier engagement models

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree required (masters degree preferred) in electrical engineering, manufacturing engineering or related fields
  • 5+ years experience in professional field, preferably at a manufacturer who designs, manufactures and/or assembles electrical components, PCBAs or consoles/box builds, plastic/Injection molded parts
  • Demonstrated experience in printed circuit board manufacturing, SMT process, electrical component and assembly design theory (including PCB, batteries, cables/connectors, displays, and console/box design and manufacturing)
  • Demonstrated experience designing, improving or supporting manufacturing of injection molded and/or extruded plastics components
  • Knowledge of the process flow for ordering, receiving and using custom direct materials; including generating incoming inspection plans, participating in MRB investigations, non-conformance generation and disposition, and management of product through ERP systems (SAP preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience developing process validation plans, including IQ/OQ/PQ protocols/reports required. Experience designing and executing Gauge R&R studies preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with root cause investigation, including the ability to validate root cause by turning off and on the failure
  • Knowledge of statistical process control, including run charts, IM-R charts, setting control limits and generally keeping a process in a state of control. Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black belt preferred.
  • Basic metrology skills, including experience with calipers, gauge pins, vision system/optical comparator
  • Working knowledge of project management fundamentals, including schedule and stakeholder management, conflict resolution and identifying critical path
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of FDA 21CFR820/821 and ISO 13485 requirements
  • Working knowledge of SAP a plus
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% within as well as outside of the United States
