Job Description:

Imagine stepping into a role where your expertise directly influences how a brand-new manufacturing site performs. As a Maintenance Reliability Engineer you will play an important role in transforming a just-commissioned biotech facility in Sassenheim into a benchmark for reliability, efficiency and asset management excellence.

In this role, you will drive the optimization of equipment reliability, embed sustainable asset management practices and lead continuous improvement across maintenance processes. Your work will ensure that the site transitions smoothly into full-scale manufacturing while building a strong, future-proof maintenance foundation.

You will be part of the broader Leiden maintenance organization (~80 FTE), while maintaining a dedicated focus on supporting the Sassenheim site, a site that is going into actual manufacturing soon. Here you will take ownership of improving system and equipment reliability, actively identifying opportunities and implementing impactful improvements that enhance performance and reduce risk.

Working with state of the art biotech manufacturing and utility systems, you will apply your expertise in reliability engineering and asset management to create lasting value. This is a unique opportunity to go beyond day-to-day operations and truly shape how maintenance is executed in a growing and evolving environment.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the continuous improvement and optimization of existing Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) strategies for critical assets
  • Drive the further development and effectiveness of Sustainable Asset Management Teams
  • Align asset criticality and maintenance strategies with business, operational, and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure technical knowledge and asset documentation are structured, owned and continuously improved
  • Define, maintain, and continuously improve maintenance strategies for assigned assets
  • Lead and facilitate Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and ensure sustainable solutions are implemented and embedded
  • Review, optimize and update Preventive Maintenance Plans (PMPs) and Maintenance Execution Plans (MEPs) based on RCM outcomes and performance data
  • Monitor asset performance using maintenance KPIs and data analysis, and translate insights into improvement actions
  • Collaborate with BSO and Reliability Engineering stakeholders (e.g. asset teams) to align and improve reliability performance
  • Drive implementation and adherence to company standards related to reliability and asset management
  • Ensure reliability and maintainability requirements are incorporated into the design and modification of assets (e.g. via Change Control processes)
  • Provide expert guidance on maintenance processes, reliability principles, and decision-making; escalate critical reliability risks where needed
  • Monitor adherence to maintenance procedures and act on deviations to ensure compliance and performance

Minimum Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering and Technical subjects (HBO) or a post-secondary vocational (MBO-4) education in Engineering and Technical subjects
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset
  • Ability to translate data into actionable maintenance improvements
  • Effective stakeholder management across functions and levels
  • Structured, proactive and improvement-driven way of working
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively
  • Excellent computer proficiency e.g. MS Office, CMMS.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is:

€44,700.00 - €70,840.00

In addition to base pay, we offer the following benefits*: an annual bonus with set target (% of pay) depending on pay grade / location, where the actual amount is based on the employees’ and companies’ performance of the previous calendar year, or sales commissions.
