Job Description:

We are searching for the best talent for a QC Technical Expert – Microbiology.

Purpose

We are looking for a QC Technical Expert – Microbiology to join our team in Cork.

In this role, we apply strong technical expertise in microbiological and analytical techniques to support quality control activities across the product lifecycle. We work together to ensure laboratory operations, equipment, and processes are compliant, efficient, and aligned with regulatory and company requirements.

This role provides technical leadership across microbiological testing and related laboratory technologies, supporting equipment qualification, method transfer, testing coordination, and continuous improvement within the QC function.

You will be responsible for

  • Supporting qualification of microbiological and analytical equipment and related testing activities (e.g., endotoxin, cell culture, TOC, spectrophotometry, and related methods)
  • Coordinating sampling and testing during plant and laboratory utility qualification
  • Planning and supporting analytical method transfers for new molecular entities
  • Coordinating analytical testing and sampling for raw materials, utilities, in‑process, bulk, and finished products
  • Supporting and delivering analyst training programs within microbiology and QC
  • Supporting day‑to‑day laboratory operations in collaboration with team leaders
  • Reviewing and approving data, laboratory investigations, deviations, CAPA, and change controls
  • Leading or supporting projects such as method transfers and equipment qualification
  • Identifying and driving continuous improvement initiatives in laboratory processes
  • Providing subject matter expertise in microbiological and analytical technologies and supporting troubleshooting activities
  • Supporting lean initiatives within laboratory operations, including test execution, documentation, and equipment lifecycle
  • Clearly presenting microbiological and analytical data to internal stakeholders and regulatory inspectors
  • Staying current with microbiology practices, analytical technologies, and compliance trends

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or a related scientific field
  • 4–6 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical or pharmaceutical industry, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong technical knowledge of microbiological and QC analytical testing methods and laboratory equipment
  • Knowledge of cGMP regulations and FDA/EU guidance
  • Experience with Quality Control systems, documentation, and regulatory inspections
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within cross‑functional teams
  • Clear communication skills, with the ability to present technical information in a concise and practical way
  • Ability to adapt, manage change, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
  • A proactive and structured approach to work, with a focus on quality and compliance
  • Demonstrates an understanding of AI concepts and frameworks, including awareness of responsible and ethical AI practices, and uses effective prompting techniques to support efficiency and productivity

The anticipated base pay range for this position is:

€52 400,00 - €82 915,00

In addition to base pay, we offer the following benefits*: an annual bonus with set target (% of pay) depending on pay grade / location, where the actual amount is based on the employees’ and companies’ performance of the previous calendar year, or sales commissions.
