Associate Director, Supply Chain – India DePuy Synthes

Reporting To:

Senior Director, DPS APAC Supply Chain

Role Overview

The Associate Director, Supply Chain India Leader is responsible for leading the end‑to‑end supply chain across India, a strategically critical market within APAC.

This role provides enterprise leadership across in‑market supply chain teams and partners closely with the India Commercial Lead to enable business performance, growth, and customer outcomes. The role carries full accountability for supply chain execution, asset deployment and utilization, customer service and operations, and reliable delivery to end customers.

A core member of the regional leadership team, the India Supply Chain Leader translates business strategy into supply chain plans, delivers insights into demand and capacity dynamics, and ensures optimal cost‑to‑serve while meeting or exceeding customer expectations.


Key Responsibilities

End‑to‑End Supply Chain Leadership

  • Own and lead the end‑to‑end supply chain across India, from demand shaping and asset strategy through to customer delivery and service execution.
  • Provide functional leadership to in‑market Supply Chain Leaders, covering:
    • Asset installation and utilization
    • Customer service and operations
    • Order fulfilment and delivery execution
  • Ensure consistent, high‑performance supply chain standards across diverse markets and operating models.

Business Partnership & IBP Leadership

  • Partner closely with the India Commercial Lead and market leadership teams to:
    • Understand business strategy, growth drivers, and market‑specific priorities
    • Translate commercial ambition into executable supply chain plans
  • Play a critical role in Integrated Business Planning (IBP) by:
    • Providing insights into demand signals, capacity constraints, and risk/opportunity trade‑offs
    • Shaping and challenging demand plans to support growth while protecting service and cost performance
  • Act as a trusted advisor to commercial and regional leaders on supply chain implications of market decisions.

Asset Strategy, Growth & Enablement

  • Lead India supply chain strategies for:
    • Asset efficiency and utilization
    • New asset installation and deployment planning
    • New Product Introductions (NPIs) and other growth enablers
    • Life cycle management within the portfolio
  • Ensure capital and asset deployment decisions are aligned to demand evolution, customer needs, and long‑term business strategy.
  • Drive standardization and best‑practice sharing across markets to accelerate time‑to‑value.

Cost Optimization & Service Excellence

  • Lead initiatives to optimize the end‑to‑end cost‑to‑serve while maintaining or improving customer service levels.
  • Identify structural cost improvement opportunities across logistics, operations, asset usage, and service models.
  • Balance service, growth, and cost trade‑offs to deliver optimal outcomes for both customers and the enterprise.

Global Platform & Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Regional & Global Supply Chain and Platform teams to:
    • Drive improvements in collaboration, visibility, and execution
    • Resolve systemic issues and remove recurring constraints
    • Influence global capabilities, tools, and standards based on regional needs
  • Act as the India voice in global forums, ensuring priorities are represented and addressed.

People Leadership & Capability Building

  • Lead, coach, and develop senior in‑market supply chain leaders, building a strong, succession‑ready talent pipeline.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and customer focus across the India supply chain organization.
  • Drive engagement and alignment across geographically and culturally diverse teams.

Key Qualifications & Experience

Required Qualifications

Experience

  • +10 years senior leadership experience in end‑to‑end supply chain management within complex operating environments.
  • Proven experience leading regional or country‑level supply chains within India.
  • Strong experience partnering with commercial leaders and influencing enterprise‑level decision making.
  • Demonstrated leadership in Integrated Business Planning (IBP), including demand planning, capacity management, and risk/opportunity trade‑off management.
  • Experience operating effectively within matrixed, global organizations.

Skills & Capabilities

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate business strategy into executable supply chain plans.
  • Deep understanding of demand planning, capacity management, and asset utilization.
  • Strong financial acumen, with the ability to balance growth, service, and cost trade‑offs.
  • Highly effective communicator and influencer at executive level.
  • Resilient, decisive leader with the ability to operate in ambiguity and complexity.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience within MedTech and/or Orthopaedics sectors.
  • Demonstrated success driving asset strategy, lifecycle management, and capital deployment decisions at scale.
  • Experience leading supply chain organizations within complex and operationally diverse environments.
  • Track record of influencing global platforms, standards, and capabilities based on regional business needs.
